when your younger make sure your body backs up the ball, in college ive learned that I realise once a shot it taken if my hands wont make I tend to get my chest on the ball usualy on bounce shots when they take a huge kick its more of a Trevor Tierney style of play.

basicaly if its in the air ill snatch it up bouners I play stick for a dead ball when it takes a weird bounce low to the ground, when they pop up I use the body, but you hands should always be out infront of you remember eye-thumb-ball

I think he is right. It is good to go hands first, always get the stick on the shot. That is a pretty crucial thing for bounce shots. That way, the ball has to get by two things in order to go into the net: your stick, and your body. When I play, I tend to think about stick play more because then you train yourself to always back up the save with your body and then it is hard to forget to get the stick in front first. And, one of the most important things I have learned from my coach is that with great stick work comes great footwork. So, just remember that in order to have your stick there first and your body to back, you have to be able to get to the shot quickly.

Use your body to save the ball, use your stick to save your body. For bouncers if it bounces far out you should wait until you see where the bounce is going before you step or move your stick, then make the save like it was a normal shot. For bouncers that are much closer try to get to the ball before it even hits the ground or as it hits the ground.

one technique question, do yall use the "eye thumb ball" thing taught by tony seamen, or some others like how pilat teaches it, or ive even seen some goalies wiht the head next to their head, and some point at the ball with the base of their stick while in play then move it down, how do yall do it?

I use eye-thumb-ball as well, per John Weston. It's interesting, as this is a different technique than what was taught 20 years ago. I was initially taught in high school to hold the head of my stick next to my helmet (to the side).

yeah i hold the stick next to my helmet and that is what most goalies in my city do. i have never been able to figure out the eye thumb ball technique. i dont know why but i kind have a wierd stance because i taught myself but have somewhat transformed into what i have learned from camps and coaches
