I really want to learn piano, but my schedule won't allow me to get lessons. I have a keyboard, so I'm going to using one of those free lessons sites for piano (Hey, that's how i taught myself guitar 8 years ago). I already know how to read music and know a lot about music theory from playing guitar. So to all of you that play piano, I'm wondering if it will be easy enough to pick up on my own, or should I just give up now? Does anyone have any good websites or info?

i would think it would he hard if you wanted to play classical because of the hand formations and such

Teaching yourself doesn't give you the fine points of arm and finger motion required to make something sound right. Take a lesson from a piano teacher, high school music departments might have links to teachers in the area, or look at the local college / university. There's quite a difference between hitting a key downwards, as opposed to forwards (with a roll of the arm), and there's an art to balancing the melody and accompaniment, etc.

Also, keep in mind that musical stuff is best developed at a very early age, but of course can be enjoyed for the rest of your life.

Mozzy's correct. I suggest going for one lesson, getting the fundamentals down, and then keeping those in mind as you try and teach yourself to play. It will be hard though, because I've had challeges in 8 years of lessons with a teacher. Good luck though, piano's a great instrument.
