I like the Warrior MPG 5.0 very cheap and protective. I've take 80+mph shots to it and havent felt much.

You got a welt through a Glad CP? Seems unlikely, unless it was traveling 100+ mph. Or did you get hit in an unprotected spot? Because the Glad is one of the best, if not the best, CP's around. I've taken lots of hard shots off the chest with no welts, and this is from some very good former DI and DIII players. You really aren't going to find one with much better protection. The Warrior CP's are comparable, but I don't think they're any more protective than the Glad. I think the Brine Ventilator has a hard plastic thing over the heart that's a little thicker, which may help you, but I've heard the rest of the CP (the beads) isn't as protective.

My Glad was insanely protective. However, I recently realized that getting hit in the stomach is pretty unlikely and doesn't hurt as much and I purchased a Warrior MPG CP for around 30 dollars. I'm willing to sacrifice the mobility. I can't believe you got a welt through a Glad. I love mine, it's just a bit too big. Maybe when i grow a little or get beamed in the tummy I'll start using it again.

I actually got a welt through my glad cp once too. Right on my sternum. That's when I learned it's a good idea to put in that extra sternum pad. I don't even know exactly what I did to my sternum but it hurt into the season(Got the welt in fallball).
Although I did get that one welt I still love my glad. It is very protective yet doesn't hinder your mobility at all. I've had it for two seasons and it's still great. Just make sure to put in that sternum pad.

Its true the Vent-X CP has a thick plate over the sternum, but when its attatched (its a removable pad) it severly hinders mobility, and makes it difficult to even hold your hands in front of your body in the normal ready stance. The bead padding doesent do much, but it does circulate air the best of any CP ive used and leaves no smell whatsoever.
The higher end Warrior pads have a ton of padding (The 6.0 even has plastic vent convers that the ball will actually bounce off of) but are a lot more bulky than any other pads.
I'd go with the Spartan Core CP, laxnation did a great review on it, and if I needed a new CP, thats what I'd buy.

never like my glad it was too big and too thin, id recomend one of the brines, either the old bead ones or the newer spartan ones
