I know the minimum head length is 10 inches, but is there a maximum?

Head must be at least 10 inches long from the outside edge of the top of the head to the furthest exposed (NFHS) or unexposed (NCAA) edge of the ball stop.

No maximum.

Brett:

If you're not playing field in the US, you have no minimum head length to worry about.

(Thing is, you won't be able to find a head shorter than 10" even if you wanted to use one)

Then how come I had to flag so many kids for it this season?

Are you serious? Must have been flimsy heads warping during play, I've never found anything less than 10" off the shelf.

(Are there any on the market?

I can't figure that an 8 or 9" long head offers that much advantage over 10", but I'm looking to try it out and see.....only advantage I can see is that If I shorten the stick enough, I can get all of the benefits of having both a low pocket and a high pocket with the same stick)

it also shortens the stick as effectively as cutting down the shaft.

I haven't had a stick head that wasn't long enough, since if the kids pinch the head it'll make it longer. I guess it might've been one of the problems with the new race of barely legal stick heads a little warped after going in for a gb at too high an angle.

I don't know if it's off the shelf or if they're doing it somehow, but there are a lot of sticks out there less than 10", especially under NFHS rules. I don't see what advantage it offers, but that's the rule.

RockStar, I was asking for maximum, because I have a full box pinch set up for my Evo, and the heads almost 14 inches now. It's just for screwing around with though.

The gait heads are known for really pushing the limits when it comes to the 10" length rule. Also, when playeres lean on their stick or hold there equipment on it there is a high potential to make it shorter.

Well if its for box then according to Rockstar you don't even have to worry, if its for field then you probably have some problems meeting the 6.5 width requirement.

Correct, no maximum either. Overall stick has to be 40-46", that's it.

I have the same length problem with my pinched Mission. Danged thing grew by two inches, so I have to chop down the shaft yet again. Luckily the Mission's a brick so it's still just as stiff as it ever was.

I know it's probably not even going to be used in game, but I could use it in Canadian field I'm pretty sure.

Check CLA field rules (I don't have a book, but think that their stick rules are nice and loose, just like international)
