I have work outs 5 days a week meaning -mon uper boddy-tue lower- and i dont remember the rest but we go in a cycle..

well my question is with the work outs being 2.30 hours a day will that make me overtrain over time??

and soccer games start next week would it be too much if i did the game mon and friday after my work outs????

thanks feel free to comment or suggest anything---- i love TLF

i think you shouldnt work out on mon and fri sicne you have soccer and since soccer avolves alot of running you might get tired out since you already worked out that day

In short (for myself), yes. But I'm not that kind of guy, so... Personally, I never work-out on a game day, it is not my style and I don't like to get tired before a game. I don't like coming to a game sore or tired or out of breath, you get the idea. But I am not you, I don't know what your body is capable of, how much you can lift, your body type, how athletic you are, (this list could go on for days), etc. If you think you are up to the challenge than, give it a go the 1st Monday, and if you feel you are to tired for the game, than don't do it anymore and visa-versa.

Hope that answered your question.

Well, what I was trying to say is it is overtraining if you feel it is overtraining. Overtraining for you, might not be what overtraining for me is. But yes, think that 3.5 hours of hard physical activity is a lot in a day, and I would consider that overtraining.

i thnk if u feel like ur putting too much stress on ur body by this work out then make it a little less intense...but if you can handle it then go for it...like laxpro said, it all depends on ur body and how u can handle the work outs. i also wouldn't work out on game day b/c it would take too much energy out of me.

Workouts doing an upper lower split should not take more tha an hour. 2.5 hours is way too much. What are you doing in the gym?? I say yea your def overtraining if your tired all the time, sore, and not seeing gains. you may wanna get off the upper lower split.

really you shouldnt work out on game day becuase there is always the chance of hurting a muscle. and yes i think you are overtraining you arent giving your muscles enough time to rest so by putting more stress on them youre actually going to make them contract and get smaller

muscles contract everytime you use them in a lift. Please elaborate...

working out one specific area to much makes that muscle get smaller because as you are lifting the muscle gets little tears which need to grow back in order for your muscles to get bigger. if you over work them and dont allow the tears to recooperate and let them grow back then you keep tearing at the muscle which makes them contract instead of expand.

my dads a physical therapist and thats wat he always told me so thats going on memory but thats pretty much the whole jist

I think a better word would be atrophy. When one overtrains and does not not have ample time recouperate muscles get smaller which is called atrophy. The "expanding" you are refering to is called hypertrophy.

2.3hours a day is defintely overtraining unless youre a pro athlete and you have several breaks in between for rest and food. Anything over an hour is a waste fo time in my opinion. Go hard or go home, don't hang out and casually do wind sprints or dumbbel curls. That's for the geezers and married guys who cometo the gym tohit on chicks their daughters age.

you can always take protien before/after working out to help restore and repair your muscles...
