just wondering if anyone has seen/tried this out, basically it's a thumb piece that attaches to your (regular) gloves and makes them like goalie gloves with a better moving thumb

Ive seen it but wouldnt trust it its safer to just buy goalie gloves and they would only cover the front of the thum not the entire finger like goalies do.

I was thinking of making some G-Force goalies with it.

One of the goalies I played with a few years back had a hockey goalie's thumb pad for his thumb protection. He just jammed it up in the thumb area and was good to go. I don't think he ever broke a thumb either.

One of the goalies on my team has them. Our mens team plays with STX Gladiators, and when I ordered my gloves from them, I got a pair of goalie glads, but she got a pair of field glads with the thumb guard popped on.

I would have to ask her what she thinks of it, but I can't imagine it's very protective... and at $40/pair, I couldn't justify the purchase. There are numerous cheaper, more protective alternatives... including buying a pair of goalie gloves.

the goalie thumb on the glads does next to nothing i broke my thumb wearing the goalie gladiators

but on topic
my coach at a camp had like a hard kevlar piece that was drilled on to his defts it was awesome

this is sorta off topic... but when i broke my thumb i took one of those old-old throat protectors that u tied onto ur helmet... i shaped it to the thumb of my superfreak goalie and taped it on... and it works unbeleivably

yeah I've had my own bad experiences with those plastic pieces over goalie gloves. what happened was that the ball basically got caught onto the tip of the plastic piece and the force of the ball made the plastic piece bend into my thumb, snapping my thumb in two. in my experience the only goalie gloves that saves your thumbs are the warrior superstar.
