View Full Version : Heads Getting Flexible

Well my Eclipse, which I've only had for a season, is getting extremely flexibly, especially with the heat. In my summer league game today I clamped the ball outside the crease and as I was raking it in and trying to get it in my stick the head bent and the ball popped out, the attackman got it and scored.
I tried putting it in the freezer for a bit, which did make it stiffer, but by the time I got to the game it was back to before. Does this happen to the rest of you too, or is it just me? Is there anything I can do about it or should I just get a new head?
I think for the rest of summer league I'm gonna use my Abyss because the solid sidewalls are much stiffer.

no dude this happens to all of 'em. after taking so many shots and pounding the stick against the ground it get flexible. its normal...

The Eclipse is notorious for being flimbsy, and the Guardian even more. There is no realy way to stiffen them.

well actually my friend once had a head brake and drilled a small hole up the wall and put a cut out of a metal clothes hanger in it. that thing was like a re-inforce bunker lol

Yea I know they get flimsy after a while, but with this one it happened so fast and it's hard to even pick up a ground ball.

That is exactly what I hate about plastic sticks, especially in box. I feel that some goalies have the tendency to lean on the stick a little bit, which can lead to the point of deforming the head in a box stance.

Your best bet is to go ahead and buy another eclipse. I plan on using mine all the way through fall ball, then buy another one for the season. I played a few games last year where I made contact with the ball, but it literally bent my head back and they scored.

yeah get something like the abyss but freezing it will make it break MUCH easier
like when u play catch in the winter and ur stick breaks

I actually want it to break now, it's still under warranty. The only thing is, it's impossible to break it now. I've tried everything.

Did you try running it over with a car, or possibly shooting it with a shotgun?

Car won't do it, and unfortunately I don't have a shotgun to shoot it with. But I froze it then smashed it and even after being in the freezer a few hours I can still bend the scoop over the throat. It's just a tiny bit harder.

just slam it on the ground for a while, it'll break. I broke the scoop of 1 of my eclipses trying to slap a ball on the ground and have it jump up, then catch it, and my scoop split right in half on the ball. just beat it, and it will break. slam the sidewall against a goal post or clothes line (if it's metal), or some stairway railing or something. If it doesn't break, you need to hit the weights (no offense, just truth).

Well I finally got it to break. I tried slamming it, didn't work. I had to put it in a vice up at the corner of the scoop and then bend it back and forth for a while and eventually it cracked up by one of the holes.

if you are lookin for a stiffer head then i would go to a nemesis. i started with an eclipse as well and switched for the same reason. the nemesis is much heavier but is very stiff. and mine has even started to give a little and it is still much stronger than the eclipse. but puttin your head into the freezer is probably the WORST idea ever.

I hate the nemesis. I've tried it before.
But how is putting my head in the freezer a bad idea? It makes it stiffer and I wanted it to break.

My Nemesis was so flexy after one season. I could practically bend the whole thing on the ground. Trust me on this one, if you want a stiff head, get the money. Ive had for one full season now and its alot stiffer then my nemesis.

The money has that weird offset though. I'm sticking with the Eclipse. It's broken now so I'm sending it back to get the replacement because it still has the warranty. For now I'm using my Abyss which is fine.
