my shot speed is horrible. thats all there is to it. i was at a camp where they had a speed gun and kids 2 feet 50 pounds less muscle then me would shoot 15 mph faster. would you guys assume this is because of bad technique or something else?

Yeah, technique is extremely important. Watch good shooters and keep practicing.

get your whole body into it. like your legs, elbows, shoulders. thats what helps the most for me personally

i use to have this same problem. what i did is work on my technique and added whip in my stick. the whip did a lot for me. it lets me get a much bigger wind up and a faster release.

but you dont necesarrily need whip in your stick faster theres on article on the insidelacrosse site that has a shooting instruction article that and there are some stickes at the top of the page that could help but technique is by far the most important thing you need

Whip does not give you a faster release.

it does for me because , according to my coach, i have a late snape in my rists. so the ball is already in the shooting strings when im snaping. i didnt really understand what my coach was talking about but then last summer i started to put whip in my stick and i noticed i hade a quicker release not only on shots, but on passes too.

I shoot way better with whip, but i wish i could shoot without it, if I dont shoot with whip my shots go wide right.

Try and generate some torque when you shoot. Pull back with your bottom hand as you're pushing forward with your top hand.
