Goalies, what is your most memorable game?
For me:
We were at a tournament at Mississagua. We were playing a really good team. When the game started, their entire team was like "Why is this goalie not wearing anything?". The other goalie was wearing full padding (chest, arm, shorts, shin). When the game started the other team won the faceoff and pressured hard. They got around the defence and shot but I was there to save it all. We tied that game 2-2. The other team could not believe that I was saving everything they shot. Even the refs were amazed. They thought I would be recruited.
Has anyone else had a game where everything went right.

We were playing the WORST team in our league and I mean the WORST and i won 100% of my face-offs and scored 6 goals and had 5 assists out of 13 goals...it was the greatest, but we never had anohter game like that the rest of the season...

well I don't think everything going right makes a memorable game...I've got two
1) my first time playing goalie ever in 8th grade...we had no goalie for our team and had to pull up a 7th grader, one game he couldn't make it and I voulunteered to take the job for the day...I completely sucked and allowed 16 shots, it was nothing to me back then because I was just filling it, but ever since that moment I couldn't get away from the cage
2) playing with a mens with d that was pretty horrid where clearing the ball seemed impossible, so the ball was in our box for most of the game...I had 16 saves and 2 ga, and on almost every clear I had to pul somel ridiculous moves to attempt to clear the ball without relying on my defensemen including running the ball down to the field
today I had a memorable practice just because I sucked until the end of the day for eating nothing but peanut butter sandwhiches and soda for a weak

yeah i have had games like taht there is 2 that really stand out in my mind
1st- we traveled to kansas city (from st louis,mo) and we played on this amazing field and it was an extremely close game the begining. the last 2 min came and it was 6-6, we scored makin it 7-6 and then they came back with a quick goal tieing it again 7-7. with less than a min to go one of our defense men gets a stupid slashing penalty. there firing shots left and right i made prob 4 saves and finally clamped it and threw an quick outlet to our star middie and he took it down and we scored making it 8-7 and we won. One of my best games i have ever played.
2nd- not as incredible just one of those days when you step onto the field and just know ur gonna stop everything. we hadnt beaten this team in 3 years and they probably had about 25 shots on goal and i had 23 saves (92% saves). we won the game 11-2. not as excitign as the first but it was my best game this year and i had some amazing saves that even the kids on the other team were complimentin me on.

I had 28 saves in one game, although I let in 16 (final score 16-4). When you see 44 shots in one game, you don't forget it.

I had a few games where I faced at least 50 shots. No Joke. We lost the games but I made a lot of daves. 15-2, 15-1, and 18-1 were the scores. All 3 teams were top in the state. My best game was my junior yr, My 3rd game starting as goalie ever. We were down 6-1, we won 13-7. I was great the 2,3,and 4 quarters. That was the first game where me and the team worked together really well, and It was my first win of the season. We lost our first two games to some pretty good teams. But one of them was later forfited at the end of the season for some odd reason.

Last season
this one game i scored as a goalie from running all the way down the field on a clear and it was awesome to see everyone gone wild when i scored
also i had 22 saves and lost only 2 goals
same season i ended with average of 17 saves per game and about 71% saving percentage
(it was my first year playing goalie too)

Hmm... My most memorable game(s)
1. Soph year in HS, season opener, and my first game being on the official varsity roster, and playing goalie. The other keeper was blowing the game, so they put me in ice cold in the 3rd quarter. I didn't play an awesome game, but I did well enough to get noticed, and we won.
2. Same year, we were playing Haverford School, and the Sr keeper was in, blowing the game as he did so frequently, though he had a sick game a few days before with like 25 saves. This time I went into the game half way through the 2nd quarter, coach called a time-out, and i got a 30 sec warm-up. The score was like 10-4 when I went in. It ended up like 14-13. We lost, but I earned my starting position after that.

Freshmen year.... 2nd varsity scrimmage of the year.... The senior 3 year starter goes down with appendicitis and the sophomore goalie screws his knee up in a hockey game both the day b4 the scrimmage so i end up starting as a freshmen on varsity and end up with 32 saves which broke the school record that was held by the senior that was out with appendicitis (his record was 26 saves) and when he came back from the appendicitis coach handed him a short pole and told him it looked like he was gonna b playing some attack....i kept the spot the rest of the year...

second game of the season, second real game i'd ever played in, against a pretty darn good team. i made 14 saves and shut them out for the first 46 and a half minutes of play out of a 48 minute game. the scored with a little less than a minute and a half left. unfortunately, our offense had not ben performing, so we had only scored once and that one goal by them tied the game in the end. but i made some sweet one-on-ones, including a couple shaft saves and diving flat out saves. also, it was 38 degrees. and windy.

The last two games of our season this year
we played the #1 (Salisbury and Loomis) and #2 teams in new england on a sunday then wednesday and beat them both. I had a mediocore season until that point and hadnt ever completely earned the starting spot. Following the game the Cornell head coach told me i made the difference in the salisbury game. It was one of those really awful rainy games. The year before they beat us and lit me up so it was even bigger. We hadn't beat them in about 4 years

For me it was a Fall Ball Tournament and we were playing the team with all the recruits for that college, and we ended up taking them into a braveheart. We won the face-off and our fogo got trailchecked and turned the ball over. He ran back down field and started to push the other guy down the side the guy took a bad shot and I saved it. My guy turned around I pitched it to him. He faked the goalie high and went low. WE WON!

I had a shutout in the first game I played as a goalie. 12 or so saves.
I was at summer camp, but I'm still pretty proud of it.

I've had ALOT of memorable games, the four that stick out are from this year.
1st-Worst game of my life, I think I saved 5 shots, let 10 in...(we were missing half our starting lineup)
2nd-We were playing a team that we had NO chance to beat, but just to play incase we saw them in regional play again. Last year we got our buts whooped 22-6(?) (yea, i was in goal) So we went out, and I made 28 saves-let in 11 and had the whole other team complimenting on my improvement.
3rd-We were just recovering from a terrible butt-whooping and playing the undefeated team in the section w/o two of our main starters. We were supposed to get clobbered, and won by one and I managed 22 saves
4th-I had a shutout w/ 10 minutes left, and my coach took me out to let the silly second stringer in, and she let a ball in w/ a minute left...

I have a few memorable games:
1- Was against a team we have never beaten. I had alot of one-on-one saves and alot of saves, we still got killed like 7-3 and our own defender scored on me while deflecting a feed. But that game pretty much got me on my club team.
2- I only played half of this game because I was spliting time. We were playing AZ starz and we killed them but I only saw two shots. Anyway the first shot was on man down and it was an easy save-to-fast-break but then they came back on a one-on-one fast break and I pulled off this miraculous kick save that made the ball hit pipe. After the game everyone was complimenting me on it.
3- I got scored on behind the back by LCC in a second round playoff game, my freshman year when our goalie got a penalty. It sucked and thats why its memorable.

My most memorable game was my college alumni game two years ago. We had no goalie (goalie is my secondary position), and I jumped in the net. With old, out-of-shape alums going against young, fit college players, I must have had 50 shots on me. I only let 5 in, with multiple-fake saves, and many spectacular clears. I was standing on my head in every sense of the term.
I almost wanted to stop playing after that game because I knew I couldn't possibly duplicate that performance. Then I partied all weekend.

It was the coldest game of the year and it started snowing just after half time we were in second place in the standings playing the first place team and it was my half to go in. The game was tied 15 seconds left they got a breakaway down the left side of the field but i'm a lefthanded goalie so when th girl took the bounce shot i saved it with 3 seconds left and let the time run down. We won in OT it was awesome

Well you told me to f off lol.
oh ur 27 u were being a you know what and you know it lol that goal was clearly from in the crease anyways no hard feelings you didnt seem to have a grudge for me after the game so thats why i dont care
also you had some other good goals i think so you can actually chirp and be ok because you have the skills to show it. thast better than #41 on your team now everyone is allowed a bad game but they look really stupid when they chirp the whole time and then lose

First game ever as a goalie. We took the lead with about 2 minuets left on the game clock. I was still a bit scared of the ball. But this game changed my scardness of the ball permanitly. I was so psyced up that i remember, I got hit in the head, the facemast, the anckle, and the knee and we won the game by a goal. After that I realized I was so pumped it didn't hurt a bit.
