Hey, I was just curious about some new goalie shaft that is suspossed to be released by STX. It sounds kind of interesting, though a bit gimmicky...but I was curious if anyone knew anything else about it?

I think that's it...I haven't heard much about it, except for something about a non slip grip to prevent the ball from moving the head if you don't have a firm grip.

There's already two goalie specific shafts out I think, and I don't know any goalies that use them. Are they making another?

the specifics are the contender and the harrow shaft for now...i know what you guys are talking about with the future shafts, warrior and brine are going to take part in it. i heard of gait making a shaft like the 803 with a new grip for goal...sounds sick.

There's the STX Contender and the STX Throttle (Not Brine's new f10). Both are goalie specific. I've heard the newest, the contender has a tendancy to break although I've never actually seen one in play before.

No, it's only for goalies. You're probably thinking of the Brine Throttle, the new aluminum alloy shaft which replaced the f10.

The Contender came out last year. I tried one briefly, but wasn't too thrilled with it. The idea is neat, but I didn't like the way it transitioned from save position to throwing position. It felt awkward, and sometimes I like to throw quick outlets with my top hand near the throat. The coating also tends to flake after a little while. They may have addressed that with the new ones coming out though.

Does anyone have the Contender? If so post pics. I wanna get one and cut it down. Our goalie also wants one. I'll say I will get him one and then give him the cut of part.
