im partial to "V"'s my self, but in general a "U" or "V" pocket is one with the bottom shooter curved around instead of the traditional straight lateral shooter, this helps channel the ball and usually provides more accuracy and power.

i like to use double v's or u's like a diamond <> like that a
although the bottom one doesn't do much for throwing

acctually, it wouldnt do anything for throwing, in fact what WOULD it do? besides add extra weight, and depending on how high up it is, interfere with your shot/pass

it basically just helps with keepin the pocket defined. And when cradling it just helps the ball to stay in on spot. Gives it less space to roll when the ball is just in your stick

Hmm one of my sticks has a power V and i can cradle just fine both hands with that. The other has a huge pocket and i always drop the ball switch handed....should i change my other one to have the V?

I orginallly used a v or u shaped shooting string, but then changed it over the weekend to a bunch of straight shooters. It has a really smooth shot and a decent pocket but a hella of a whip.

its just like a fancy name for just a normal v/u set up with some shooters across the top
