Hey guys,

I was wondering how much sodium should a person consume in one day. Ive noticed the food/drinks that are low in fat/ calories are much higher in sodium. And i know to much sodium isnt good for a person either. So another question to then i guess. Should a person eat/ drink the choice that has more calories/fat and less sodium, or should they choose less fat/cals and more sodium???

Unless you suffer from high blood pressure, or you want to lose water weight I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you're active, you need a good deal of sodium to stay hydrated and sweat properly. If you're inactive, it's much more of a concern. That's why inactive women complain a lot about bloating, b/c they retain excess Na. Their menstrual cycle has a lot to do w/ it, but that's another subject you'd probably rather avoid.

One of the added benefits of staying well-hydrated and drinking lots of water throughout the day (e.g. a gallon or more) is that you flush out excess Na. Good hydration and frequent trips to the bathroom help clear out excess Na.
