Why would you want too?
But no, I believe goalkeepers crosse has to be between 10" and 12" for field, 10-15" for box.

Was he just using it to warm up? Many keeps use a shorty when they're warming up, to get their hand eye cordnation down.

Rule 1-6 NFHS states that "There may be one crosse, 10 to 12 inches, inside measurement.....This crosse shall be used by the designated goalkeeper."
So as I read it, the goalkeeper can use a smaller head if he wants.

The NCAA Rule states:
There must be one crosse, 10 to 12 inches, inside measurement
at its widest point, at the front of the side wall. This crosse must
be used by the designated goalkeeper. This is pretty clear.

HS's that play under NFHS rules rather than NCAA have the option of using a regular stick as a goalie's stick - NCAA has to have a goalie's stick in the game.

Not so fast - review NFHS Case 6.5 Situation B on page 79 "Goalkeeper B1 leaves the field to serve a penalty, taking his crosse with him. Substtute B2 enters the crease. He chooses to (a) use a mid-fielders stick, (b) play without a throat protector, (c) play without a chest protector. Ruling: Illegal in all three cases, the replacement goalie is not properly equipped.
Several officials have submitted input for a change in 2007 to align with NCAA and clarify that there must be a goalkeeper on the field and he must be properly equipped.

if you can use a field head in goal does that mean you can have a huge bag and an illegal pinch?

I missed this case ruling, and must concede that it does say that a goalie cannot play with a small stick. But since the NFHS rule itself is at least ambiguous and possibly in conflict with the NCAA rule, a clarification is in order.

thats exactly what im trying to find out. the stick fit the length regs and no one knew whether or not the pinch or pocket depth or the regular head were illegal.

im gonna have to say no, because it's not a goalie stick so it would still have to apply to the regs of a field stick
