How did you guys get into stringing. Personally I taught myself by emulating other jobs.

Nope. Orange taught me how to do it. Tutorials should be an option? I guess instructions kinda works though.

I got my first stick free and hated how it threw, but didn't really have any friends interested in lacrosse so I had to do it myself. And that's how I learned to string mesh. I also bought some hard mini mesh and that was a lesson in itself.
I copied stylin string's pockets for my first two traditionals and my sister's stick and have gotten a lot better since then.

I taught myself basically. I remember my first string job was without looking at any head and the top string was gross and the sidewalls were actually done pretty good but real lose. Then from there on I looked at other heads and learned from them.

ive strung 3 like real heads and messed around with a bunch of minis (and attempted customs on my av8) and look at the directions usually on my first stringing i did terrible and like did the sidewalls on my own and had help with the topstring................got a new head that came strung real nice and after usingit for a while restrung it with monster mesh, got a new head when that warped, and strung it with 6d from jima

I have a thought, let me know what everyone thinks:
If you know how to string a lacrosse stick well, or if you know how to do customs, then you can't have strictly taught yourself. I understand what everyone is saying about starting easy and teaching yourself, but you HAVE to look at other people's work to know if you're doing it right. If there was someone whose stick looked awful but it threw great, then they could make an argument. As I see it right now, everyone that strings has learned from everyone that strung before them, no matter how much they figured out on their own....
opinions?

I definately got into stringing with e-lacrosse's stick tech. I saw all the cool pockets they had and just tried 'em all out. Now I rarely go there and instead look at the stuff here.

i basically taught myself... the very first time i strung mesh, i used a tutorial. But other than that, i taught myself. I just use tutorials to see what lengths of string i need.

I learned by looking at a strung stick and mimmicking it on the stick i was stringing. Then once I got to a little more advanced pocktets i started looking at tutorials and learning the pockets from there.

I tried to use the instructions on the STX kit, but I could not understand them. So I kind of did it on my own while looking at other sticks/pics. Then by trial and error I perfeted them. I am in the midst of teaching my neighbor, but he cannot grasp the technique.
