At least it's not like NCAA basketball, don't have to deal with some loudmouth saying "diapar dandy" and "IT'S AWESOME BAYBEEEE" every 45 seconds.

I think Quint has gotten a lot better, he's the one that really annoys me...

That's actually a good point. I've never heard a point called a talley. The only place I've heard a stick called a cross is in the rulebook. And the other thing I hate is how they keep calling the faceoff a draw. It's a faceoff!

It really seems like they favor some of the teams when they announce. Navy was playing a great game and
"Princeton is totally dominating this game"
"A miraculous save by the goaltender" (went off the post)
Just stuff like that gets to me, but of course I'd be hypocritical if they were pro-Navy

They're so annoying. Did anyone hear in the beginning, when they called the person that scored the quarterback.

those guys are the voice of lacrosse...
i think they did an awesome job relating it to other sports... if some1 just randomly flipped through and saw a few mins of a game... they i guess learned the similarities! how bout that attendance ... awesome for lacrosse... they can get annoying but i mean hey they are the announcers ... its not like al michaels doing the basketball games... thats
F * C K I N G T E R R I B L E
but haha... thats just my 2 cents...

one of them was rippin on powell for a behind the back shot, saying that he had less of an angle and that he was getting too fancy. The reason he shot behind the back was cause the defender was right on him, if he turned to shoot, he'd get nailed, so he shot and the defender really didn't notice. It was actually a good shot selection. And yea, they call the guy at the point the quarterback, but i thought that was a hockey term (as well as football obviously), the qb in hockey is the guy on the power play who takes the shots and has the puck cycled to him. whatever

Anyone is better than that Sheehan chick. She's an idiot and I mute the games when she's announcing. She's horrible and in my own opinion, detrimental to the sport with her announcing.
I don't mind the guys today. Leif whatever his name is has been doing it for years.

I agree with the cradling thing. There's no reason to announce that someone is using their right/left hand to cradle... I'm guessing they were saying it to make it sound like something was happening?

who was in the box? I couldn't tell with the binoculars i had. I could tell Leif was on the sideline. Man did he get demoted, he used to be in the box.

Maybe for men's lacrosse but the Stanwick family has been around women's (and probably men's as I think there is a boy or two in the family) lacrosse since forever ago. They're a family from Baltimore who had three of their daughters (and three of the best wms laxers around) go to Georgetown and do great. Currently Coco Stanwick is there as a freshman and already making an impact.
Sheehan is extrememly knowledgeable about wms lax I'm sure. I do question why they would have her as a men's announcer though.
Just thought I'd give some history.

i hate how they say **** like "right handed cradel....switch hands by kyle harrison....great athleticism..." thats what pisses me off. these are guys who thought they could play like 30 year ago when the game was totally different and they think they know what **** goes on nowadays

i would have to agree those commentators drive me crazy the one knows what hes talkkin bout but the other one has no idea and he just says random facts that he reads off a sheet and say "powell with the right handed cradle" and that drives me crazy. who cares that they are cradling a freakin ball
You have to understand that they are announcing to a crowd that knows little about lacrosse, so using terms like "quarterback" can be more familiar to them, and a "left-handed cradle" probably sounds damn impressive to someone who knows nothing about lacrosse. If lacrosse was a mainstream sport, then more things would be assumed and presumably it would be of higher quality in the eyes of a lacrosse-familiar audience. My mom likes these telecasts since she's not too proficient in any sport's terminology, so these allow her to pick some up, while she never will (without help) on football. I'm ok with their verbiage, talley sounds a bit British and crosse is a bit girly, but If that's their style it's not intolerable. The nice benefit of not being mainstream that someone mentioned is they don't have the gimmick announcers, I cannot stand **** Vitale ("Mike Powell is a PTPer BABAY, look at that diaper dandy on Princeton, they're raising the roof PLAYAZ!!"). Also, does anyone know at all the Hopkins goalie Scott Smith, I played with him growing up and I had a couple rumors about him I wanted to discuss :)

The thing I like about them announcing cradleing is that it could show some new players the value of switching hands and not just using the dominant hand the whole game.
Sumsum, I understand Sheehan played at Georgetown, but her commentary during the girl's games is annoying. She acts as if she's appalled by the play of some of the girls when they make a mistake. It's not her job to throw out her opinion, just call the game as she sees it and leave her opinions out of it. She had her moment.
