Ill be a senior next year and I have narrowed down my schools to at least 5, one of them being Colorado College (D3). Its my first choice and Ive been asked to visit them and go on a tour of the campus with the coach (along with other players who are intrested also, not just me) but I have 2 questions.

1. Has anybody been on any of these types of visits?

2. Since C.C is my first choice, I would love to play there, but my grades are a lil bit below the requirements to get in, so the question is....Even though D3 cannot give certain types of scholarships like D1,D2 schools can, will it help to get in If a part of the schools athletic program wants me to attend?

I would really appreciate some responses.

Thanks

I've been on a overnight visit for D3 and I went on a campus tour before hand, so I didn't tour with the coach or other recuits. The coach did offer it to me, but I declined.

D3 school's techincally can't give out athletic scholarships, but usually the coaches have some kind of in with financial aid and might slip you some extra money. It's all up to the coach and what he can do though. I was in the same boat as you, and the coach asked me to take the ACT's or SAT's again. I'm sure it would've helped and made me look like a better candidate, I didn't end up taking either tests, partly because I was an even more cocky Senior. The school I'm going to is mostly females, so being a male helped me out and I'm sure being an athlete didn't hurt either. Good luck with everything.

a lot of D3 schools are very small and have a very small acceptance pool. however, they do still care for athletics, and considering that the applicant pool is so much tighter, any input from any member of the staff can have a major impact on whether or not you are accepted, and a lot of times, if a coach really wants you to be there, they have enough sway over the process tpo get you in. i'm not sure about scholarships, however

Yo Ryan I got that exact same CC letter in the mail a few days ago. I will probably be there, I think its on the 18th of August maybe? CC is maybe like my third choice and I am academically above par for CC, which gives me more leeway than you. However I do know that for D3 schools, coaches are alotted a certain amount of "academic safes" they can give to players. However these only go to the players that they beleive may not get in on their own during ED, and players that are probably the most wanted, skilled players they are trying to recruit. And if you get an "academic safe slot" then the admissions process is kind of softened up for you.

I have never visited CC, so after this little minglefest and tour, etc, it could possibly become number one, replacing Bowdoin. Are you for sure going and where are you from?

They just sent you guys a letter inviting you to visit? How did they come in contact with you, if you know? Did you do any tournaments or anything?

CC is so NO CURSING expensive though. 43,000 bucks a year for college is NO CURSING insane. I know I could play there, and I like the school, but there's pretty much no way in hell I could afford it.

So you can get in-state tuition just by having a colorado address? Because a whole half of my family lives in colorado, so I could use theirs.

That's what I thought. I erroneously assumed that he knew something I didn't.
