Well i was looking through the rule book and noticed that the rule on compression shorts.

Does anyone els feel that the rules is a bit to strict. They should have some middleground on the issue because most stores only stock white or black and i have yet to see a HS team with team order compression shorts. I think they should change the rule to that Black/White are nuteral colors but any other colors beound that can qualify for the foul.

Or just get of the rule intirely

anyone els feel this way?

I think they should just get rid of the rule entirely. Its a pointless rule and I have never seen it enforced.

I was looking through the official men's lacrosse rulebook and it says that if visible, the compression shorts must be white, grey or a team color. That's really not to big of a deal, though adding black would probably be smart. And I'm sure if there was a ref who decided to enforce this, a coach could convince him/her that black is a team color.

That's the NCAA rule. Under NFHS rules, the shorts have to match the game shorts.

This rule (in many sports) dates from the early to mid-90s when players wanted to start covering their legs a bit more than that era's shorts allowed. If you watch NBA games from that era you saw lots of players with compression shorts underneath uniform shorts that only had a 2" inseam.

No, that's not the rule. The NFHS doesn't even require the game shorts to match each other. IIRC (I'm away from my rulebook), the NFHS rule is that all visible compression shorts must be the same color for the same team (no limit or white, gray, or team color as in NCAA).

This gets my vote for silliest NFHS rule - compression shorts must match and game shorts do not have to. But given the cleaning up of the rules over the last few years, it seems likely that this disconnect will be gone soon.

I submitted it again this year, so we'll see what happens.

how is compression shorts different from wearing black boxers I mean they're both the second outermost layer a player wears

The only way that I can see the compression shorts rule being a valid rule is when the MILL (then) had them as their uniform shorts (yech!!!).
