Just a couple pockets I did for my son to try out. First one is just a nitrous with hard mesh, but it was my first mesh I've ever done. Second is a matrix with a corner pocket 'daddy style', meaning I winged it for the most part. Got very creative just to finish it,never done one before, so it looks like a corner pocket, with lots of little improvises. Anyway they both throw real nice, so I guess something went right. But I know you pros may differ so hammer away, I can take it.

don't weave your shooters across and then roll them. Either weave them both ways or run the shooter straight across and then roll back.

mesh looks good. on the corner pocket i like the crosslace to be on the leather rather than on the piece of mesh but thats me. i think thats how it is in the tutorial as well. on the shooters either weave them both ways or go straight across and then roll them. but they look good for your first time doing both things, keep it up your on the right track.

Why? If it works then what's wrong with it?

the mesh one looks like the sidewalls are loose and need to be tightened. the leather on the corner pocket could be moved one diamond closer to the sidewalls and then run the nylon around the leather. look at the corner pocket revisted tutorial. other than that they look nice, pound em out a bit though.

Ok first guys, the pocket depth is all preference and depending on how young his kids are it is probably better to have a little more of a shallow pocket to get them learning the fundamentals with.

That being said the mesh pocket is pretty good, just make sure the sidewalls are nice and tight because loose sidewalls create whip. I like the look of that low pocket...Looks like its gonna be pretty nice.

For the corner pocket you really should attach the crosslace to the leathers instead of just the mesh. This is for the same reason as the tight sidewalls on a mesh pocket. It may make your pocket inconsistant because of the movement of the mesh along the leathers.

Overall i like both string jobs, and your son is lucky to have a dad like you who will take the time to help him with lacrosse. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the comments and helpful hints. I really needed some shooter help and you guys came thru. As for the corner pocket, I knew it was not the 'standard way', but thought I'd see how it came out. Now after hearing the reasons for the 'standard way' I may redo it. I enjoy doing it anyway. Thanks again.
