Please Help, im a beginner and i was wondering what the advantages of stringing my stick traditional style instead of regular hard mesh would be. Like why would i want traditional instead of mesh? And also, which is harder to string????

Help

traditional you make your own pocket you it comes out with as much hold as you want or as little whip and they are very customizable, were as mesh is harder to get like that

traditional is considerably harder to string.. it is harder to maintain, and harder to get a consistent pocket.. they are nice to look at, and do perform well, but all things considered, a good piece of mesh will stand the test of time, and give you a more consistent/reliable pocket..

it is equally easy, if not easier to customize mesh.. in terms of hold, whip, pocket placement, etc..

i prefer mesh pockets because they usually come out nice. and with traditional if its not symetrical it can really screw it up. if done both and the only problem w/ my traditional is that its not symatrical.

you said you were a beginer so i say hard mesh like said above traditional is harder to string (i tried traditional as my first pocket) it turned out really bad. Do mesh first like sidewalls topstrings getting your shooters right it is usually better to start with mesh. Also hard mesh is the most reliable mesh out there it dosnt screw up in water its got good hold and good shot speed especially if you bag it on a pinched head. So for beginers i say Hard mesh all the way!!!

Ok so I just fixed the links up there but I'll put my 2 cents in. I play attack and I use traditional. I however agree with NC-LACROSSE with that hard mesh should be your first pocket. It is easier to mantain and less stressful. However if you decide to learn how to string I would highly suggest you learn to be able to string traditional. Also you should try out a traditional pocket a considerable amount of times before you use it as your game stick. Try to get it perfected first.

You know I think trad is easier it is just linger and there is more oppurtunity for error. Plus trad shoots faster and I would go with trad.

you can make trad to your preference. there is a lot of time for error when stringing it though. ive used trad for attack but nothing beats a good piece of mesh or a pita.

only if you do it correctly. i dont know what maintenance you guys are talking about for trad. ive never had to mess with any of my trad sticks once they are working properly. if it rains, sometimes i'll stuff it with newspaper, but not all the time, thats the only maintenance ive ever done, and ive got trad pockets older than some of you, and they still throw and catch fine.

its harder to string, i'll grant you that

Trad is just better proformance and mesh is more consistent proformance. thats really what it boils down to

bottom line right here:if ur a beginner go with mesh, it is consistent and that is all you need as a beginner. when i first started out i didnt want to do any maintenance on my stick, i wanted to get out and throw around more than i wanted to fix my stick. that is why i still use mesh, easier and i would rather be outside throwing than inside doing maintenance on my stick.

I strongly disagree, one of the beautys of mesh IMO is the fact that they are so easily customizable. Traditional has a certain feel to it some like it some dont, generally it has more hold and less rattle, but after using both i feel a well strung mesh pocket can do all and more than a trad.
