So here is the deal. I recently crashed and restarted my entire computer and now I dont have sound. Instead the computer just beeps. I have a sound card and it worked before why not now? and how can I fix this?

Ok, here goes, my guess is that the beep is coming from your motherboard. So, something might have **** with that when you crashed

that exact same thing happened to me. all i did is delete all the sound files. than searched for the files online (i use windows xp). then choose the necassary files and download them.

you have xp right? i went on the windows website and searched on there for it. they have it all on that. if not just search on google. just make sure youre not just missing a file or something.

look it up online, usually the computer beeps a certain way (two short beeps, a long beep then a short one) and its like the computers trying to tell you whats wrong. So either put how its beeping here and ill try to help or search online for computer beeps

Ah my mistake, I thought he said he reinstalled windows for some reason....
Yeah, beeps are not good, find what your particular one(s) mean.

Restart as in reformat? If you dont find a way just reformat your computer, or use this
1. go to run type dxdiag.exe
2. go to sound and test it
3. It should give an dionostigue (sp)

as in put the win XP disk in delete my previous verson of xp and reload it.

It says that no sound card was found. but i do have one. how can I install it?

GOOD NEWS! I fixed it.
I just clicked add new hardware and it said it hadent? been added so i did. thx for your help guys.

Yet another disaster avoided by using TLF, Chuck Norris, and Geico.
