Putting it in the dishwasher cleans the hat. Do you want those like lines in the front where there's like indents? I'm not sure how to describe it.

You can fray the brim by using sandpaper.

I've seen people fray the brim of the hat by just scraping it on concrete. If your looking for a washed out look, I'm sure it would just involve putting it through a few cycles in the dishwasher or washer. Your basically just trying to simulate a long period of wear in a short amount of time.
Update: Just checked google heres a website that tells you how to wash a hat. http://www.sport-smart.com/wash-baseball-hat-cap.htm I would suggest following the instructions that prevent shrinkage but not the ones that protect color.
BTW I've never done this before so take my advice with a grain of salt

Wear your hat, a lot. There's nothing like having your favorite old beat-to-hell hat. Artificial oldness is no fun.

But when you wear it alot it isn't going to look good per-se, it's just going to look dirty.

I'd say just stry tossing it in the dishwasher on the bottom rack and let it bounce around and stuff. It might not work but it's worth a shot.

But I've never done this so if you ruin your hat don't come crying to me. Just had to say that.
