This one holds 20 sticks, but could be built larger or smaller. I use it for hockey, lax and other random things that fit in it like umbrellas. Easy to put in and out, plus it has a low profile. Very heavy, and has good leverage with the pieces on the edge to keep it from tipping. Best part was the materials were under 35.00, labor took me about 5 hours, but everything is sanded too.

5-Position Magic Mop and Broom Holder (http://www.organize-everything.com/5posmagmopan.html)
You could walk into any Target or hardware store and see these things. But why spend $13.99? Take a 1" by 4" of whatever length strikes your fancy. With a 1" or so hole saw, bore holes in it. Then with a handsaw, open up the holes to one edge so that you can slip the sticks in and out of the holder, rather then having to lower them into the holes. Put one bookshelf bracket on either end of the 1" by 4" to attach the shelf to the wall. Cost, just about zero.

You can make a good gun rack that is sweet... just some wood, some sanding, and maybe if you want to seal it...
