Our team basically lost 2/3s of our starting varsity defense this year and we are still waiting to fill the 3rd and final starting d-spot.
Our coach asked one of my buddies(soph) who plays attack right now to play d because he use to play it and he will pretty much get the starting spot, he still really wants to play attack.
I (soph) play mid-field, take face-offs, and was on the man-down unit on freshman team last year and probably will be on the 3rd or 4th line varsity midfield, i was wondering if i should step up and talk to my coach about playing defense this year.

Suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

P.S. I have played pole at summer camps and in summer leagues before.

Go for it. What do you have to lose. At worst he says no and your stuck on the 3rd 4th middie line.BUT if he says ok to you switching to DPole then you will get alot of playing time on D.

you can give it a try but i think your coach was asking because he knows the your friend is experienced in the position....and why didnt he just move up a jv starting defender?---why would he ask a jv attack?
