Based on what I've seen at the STX shootout, I believe that Salisbury School could be a top 10 team in the nation this year. The class coming in is unbelievable, and the senior class that is there already is not any worse. The offense has as much talent as I've seen out of a New England Prep School ever. The goalie (who is committed to the Naval Academy) is one of the best natural goalies in High School right now. Defense has a strong core and the middies also complement them, as well. Seems to me that Salisbury should be the team to beat.

Salisbury is a notorious PG school. Every year they get a half dozen kids with top D1 recruit lacrosse skills and a looming academic hole in their application to come and learn study habits and life skills and also make their team a top 10 program.
The result is a team that looks more like a DI freshman team than a secondary program.
I remember when my DIII freshman team played my old prep school (that was common practice for top preps back then......we had played the frosh at Yale, Wesleyan, Trinity, and Amherst as part of our schedule)
I discovered that I was way better and stronger and faster at 19 than I was at 18.
That's why big PG schools like Salisbury and Loomis and NMH and Deerfield field teams are top 20 material before the first practice, and if let loose on the general public (most state sanctioning bodies don't let their HS teams play any team with anyone with a HS diploma on it) they'd romp all over all but the very best programs.

I hate to burst bubbles, but this kinda talk always rears it's ugly head after every season, and every following season, it's the same story. The prep schools always do well, but never quite well enough in key games. They have greatly skilled players, but never gel as a team when they constantly have a stream of talented PG's that come in to a new system with new teammates. All star individuals that can't gel as a team and play together for very long never tend to do that well in the long run...prime example can be seen with team USA this past summer.
Oh well, always a bridesmaid, never a bride so to speak.

Supposedly their getting a kid from boys' latin, should be a fun year for New England Prep school lacrosse. Also I hear NMH is getting a nice hand full of PG's, can't wait to see how those guys bounce back from a rough season as they continue to rebuild their program with their new head coach.
By the way anybody know how the Millbrook team did?

Actually very true. Public shcools have an easier time gelling together, because the kids grow up together.

NMH is getting two really good PG's that I know of.
First, They're getting this attackman Tim Bigelow who went to Rivers School in MA and played for the Clams which is debatably the best club team in New England. He's really quick with good hands and good shooting/passing ability.
Secondly, Bill Belicheck's kid who also played at Rivers and for the Clams is going there. He's an absolute animal on defense who just lays kids out. Down in Tri-State he nail some kid helmet to helmet and the kid just flew like ten feet backwards.
Finally, yeah Salisbury is known as a huge PG school but that doesn't mean they aren't a great lacrosse team.

Sure sure, but how exactly would you know that for a fact... you're taking a guess is what I'm thinking... The kids coming in will almost gel immediately because they are a great groups of kids from what I hear, and plus they live together and go to school together.... making chemistry and time spent together even better.

I'm taking an educated guess based on my 10+ years of lax experience as well as following a couple of private schools through the years. How many times does the same thing have to happen over and over again before people just accept it as the way things usually shake out?
