What do you think recruiters look for the most in a player? I'm not really old enough to be recruited yet, but I'm curious as to what they're looking for so I can practice and hopefully increase my recruiting chances.

i didnt answer the poll cause i dont know, but i think its a combination of all of those
between athleticism and stick skills, mainly stick skills though

I would think athelticism...its easier to make a lacrosse player out of an athlete, than an athlete out of a lacrosse player

I think most coaches look at your athletisicm the most, but you obviously need stick skills as well.

College coaches themselves said on national television, raw athletiscim. They said exactly what trelax1201 mentioned.

If you add size or leadership, I think makes the most sense. Obviously you need stick skills but those can be honed and you can also add size to yout frame whenever you want.

Stick Skills First...Closley followed by Athleticism.
Than Knowledge of the game. There are people who are athletes and stick skills but don't have this

it's def athleticism, if you don't have that then you usually wont be playing good college lacrosse. A coach can teach you everything else that he wants except for size but there are plenty of small freaking beasts playing. You can't twirl ur stick and do 5 moves in one dodge and expect someone wants that on their team.

Something up there id say is field vision O and D its extremely important to know where everyone is on the field. If you dont that could be the attackem that beats you or the gamewinning passed that you didnt see.

just look at D1 roster. the minumum height is generally over 5 feet 10 inches, and over 170. they want athletes first, lacrosse players second.

Size and Stick Skills are the two biggest, if you're not athletic then you should'nt be super serious about getting recruited

I think that all of thoes things contribute to that. Obviously a college coach wouldn't recruit someone who is an amazing athlete but wasn't very good with a stick. On the same note, a coach wouldn't recruit a kid with an amazing stick but runs a 9.7 40 yd dash. You need to have it all together to play at the next level

All it is is size. That's the only thing they look for.

That is wrong on so many levels. You have to be in decent shape and of decent height, but you by no means have to be a superman. Coaches want kids that fit into their program well. You could be the best athlete, but if you have a sucky attitude, coaches are going to think twice. If you're a monster, but can't play with other people or are slow, coaches are going to look elsewhere. Basically, you have to be the package deal. Be in good shape, pray that you're not a midget (though even then, don't rule out playing lax in college), share the ball, have good stick skills, field vision, quickness attitude and so much more.
Coaches don't look at one dimension of your playing, they look at everything. They check your grades, they check your speed. They take a look at how well your stick skills are as well as your knowledge of the game. Don't get caught thinking you can be amazing at the college level if all you have is your size because there's so much more to the complete player that coaches are looking for besides that.

Who here thinks that coaches will pick:
1. coky player bad atitude(sp?)But amazing stick skills
OR
2. Hustles like crazy, not the best stick skills, but definitely not the worst.
My pick would be 2 because of hustle, I am not sure what do you think?
Well colleges usually have their pick, and i think they would just find someone who hustles like crazy and has amazing stick skills

at my last camp they really stressed athleticism...because even if ur not mike powell with a stick...u cant teach someone to b 6 4 225 and run a 4.4 forty. Virginia is big on recruiting atheletes...the stick skills can come

Coaches want athletes they can build. That's what Amonte Hiller did at Northwestern. One story was how she was driving around campus and found some students running, so she wanted them to play. All the others are nice, but not necessary.

It's a little bit of everything. You can't have an athlete without stick skills or someone with stick skills who doesn't have a knowledge of the game.

i hear this all the time...
"it's far easier to turn an athlete into a lacrosse player than a lacrosse player into an athlete"
i'd say it's for sure raw athleticism...

if you look at any good lacrosse player they have all of these attributes.
stick skills, athleticism, leadership, knowledge of the game, although size doesnt matter that much they are usually on the bigger side.

i think the biggest part is athleticism. you can teach an athletic person to do anything, but you can't turn a person into an athletic person. but all of that stuff is important

I remember hearing in the Final four that coach's first look at speed, because you can't teach speed, but you can teach someone to play lacrosse. Not the exact quote but something like that.
But I am in my sophmore year in high school i run a 5.5 forty... Would that be considered any good?

Here's a little info, though football related, should still apply...
