Kim brothers didn't play + Scot (broke his ACL) + Peter (hurt his back so couldn;t take any faceoff) + got to London day before the game + drink way too much beer + miss communication with John huas + most of the players from 2002 couldn't play for some reason, so there were only 3 players from 2002 team , etc..... For all these reason, they had to take many guys from thier u-19 team. They have 6 high school players as far as i know, including their starting Goali. They should be pretty good at the U-19 game in 2009.

They didn't play against the US they only played nations that have been playing lax for a similar amout of time as they have.
So that has nothing to do with it.

The koreans looked weak I saw them play....
Keep in mind nations like Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Spain, ETC had tonnes of Canadian and American content and developped players...
Korea took a club team over there...
Just a note you may wanna consider!

Korea were weak...some of the players couldn't make simple passes or catches so they had minimal ball possession. They had one Canadian player, Steve something or other who would take the ball on a one man mission everytime and get stripped. He scored most of their goals but considering he never passed, it isn't saying much.

I think this year they were more stringent on who could play for Korea or anyother national team. yeah there were plenty of Americans and some Canadians playing for their ethnic heritage team- Italy and Ireland- but there were restrictions on how many non-passport holders could play.
go figure. :thumbsdow

did they even get sponsered because a newly formed team that is sponsered is a waste of money imo

they were covered by brine.
The main problem was that the Koreans didnt take many american players this year like they had in the past. I am moving to Korea in 2008 following graduation to play some lacrosse and also go to school there. In my case, I will be fortunate to play in korea and possibly make the team since I have korean citizenship. Other than that , I feel bad since most talented korean players cannot make the team. Just food for thought.

Hmm I might have to go back to Korea after school and try to play. From what I have heard in this thread I won't have much trouble playing for them. Also do you have to be a citizen to play for that country ?

If you live or lived there 24 months, you can play (well, four non-passport holders can play). There's a thread on that: http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=57304

Sounds like you got something against the guy, if he got stripped every time, how did he get most their goals? If guy you are talkin about #41, I don't know what games you were watching but I watched Korea play the German team and he never lost the ball. He looked pretty good to me, he scored 4 and the rest of the team got nothing. Anyways Korea looked real weak, but everyone knows asian stick skills are weak, even the Japan team made tonnes of unforced errors.

I think he is asking why they did so bad relative to the other teams that are also new to lacrosse, like Holland, Denmark, Spain. Who were their non-passport holders, you can see that their top scorer was obliviously not korean and maybe the guy in second too, but and is there even any true Koreans who are any good? What is the domestic sceen like in Korea?

yo for all the koreans that wanna play for them. if you have korean citizenship and you enter korea between 18-20 something unless your going to college there then you can go after, you have to go to the army for 2 years or something. its mandatory.

I played for the 2003 U-19 Korean national team as its defenseman. I was actually the only one to start and play every game during the tournament down in Baltimore. To say the least about myself, I am a "true Korean" who played for Manhasset (yes, on Long Island), Sting Elite, IAS Select, and varsity at a New England prep school; I am still choosing where I will play in college.
Anyway, when I played for the team, it was its first appearance at the U-19 tournament. However, we played quite well (3-3 record, overall // 17-0 win over Germany, etc.), because we had so many strong Korean-American players, including some who were All-American and played for D-I schools, like Princeton. It was an awesome showing, more so because we trained together for only about five days before the tournament began.
Unfortunately, all the original Korean players who contributed significantly to the developing program in 2002 and 2003 were NOT allowed to play for this year's Team Korea. The reason was because the "manager" who basically took over the program just wanted to use his credentials within Korea to boost his private life (he coached little kids and received money for it.. he didn't care a bit about the association itself). When certain players complained to him that the KLA was going down the drain because of him, he took away players' tryout privileges; he, in fact, kicked me out of the association entirely. He even did not inform many players when and where the tryouts were going to be; he only invited those who sucked up to him. So, obviously many talents turned away and did not play for Korea this year in Canada. (the Canadian married a Korean woman, so he was allowed by ILF to play for Korea; he is an English tutor who coaches little kids as his side job).
I hope this explains why there were so many inexperienced high school players playing for Korea this year. This year's showing was NOT representative of the true Team Korea. It was a total embarrasment for patriotic players like me, and I am sure things will work out in the long term.
p.s.
To those who want to go back to Korea and tryout for the team: I beg you to be good. Actually good. I don't want to see more people with the Korean flag on their jerseys just because they sucked up to the aforementioned man. Representing your country should not be a means of bragging. So, go hit the gym and start training. Please.

Korea and most of the asians always lost because Asians like me are just fast and quick. They need to be combined with players with physical presence. =P

Don't want to start a war or anything, but It's actually a Native American sport. When Lacrosse was invented they had no "Canada" or "America". So neither country can claim it as "their" sport.

First of all let me say that I am writing this because I love the game and want to see it grow and become a world sport and eventually an olympic one, I don't want to hurt anyone and so I will leave names out. I went to Korea to teach english in 2004 and I wanted to play some lax while I was there, I am not the best player in the world but I am pretty good, having played for ten years and NCAA D1; I could have helped out but the "head guy" made me feel as wanted as a hemroid. After I came out the first time he never called me back or let me know when they were playing. When I did manage to find out and go he tried to show how good he was (he wasn't at all) by dominating most of the other players who came out (except me and that canadian who you mentioned). I think he feels intimidated by decent players, and only keeps players who he can beat "in the loop", unfortunately that means the average player won't be very good, and if he is the example setter for other Koreans to come, Korea is in for a long rough ride. If this is the same guy(and I think it is) then get rid of him before he kills lacrosse in Korea, or sets in back too far. Not makeing tryouts open to anyone and picking and choosing, sounds like the same guy to me. Good luck in the future Korea.

Boys what's with all the hate? Why did Korea do so bad? I don't think we did and for you to say otherwise shows the depths of your laxignorance(my word, but feel free to use it) Laxzilla's gonna run it down 4 ya, so try and keep up. Germany and the Chechs? Established top teams in Europe, nuf said. Holland, Spain, more than 4 non passport holders, making those losses meaningless. We could have beat Spain but we chose to start our backups, we still netted 14 G's on em', more than the 11 Latvia got and only 2 shy of the 16 scored by Finland (a real good team), we beat N.L. and they've had lacrosse there for 100 years(it's true, look it up) Denmark was esily our best showing, down 7-1 at half we take the lead in the 4th, they score with under 30secs to play and win it in OT(one of the best games of the tourny, ask around) Tell me how we did bad again, Laxzilla don't see it? Now for the people doggin the boys of the KLA, all the tryout info was on the net, if you would come here and play in the summer league(where most of the national team plays) then you would know about stuff and be in "the loop" as you say. The boys are doin a good job workin their arses off. Here's an idea come over play, help out and quit flappin your gums, if you can't deliver anthing but a mouth fulla hate then stay where ur at we don't need ya. If you wanna be positive and help out, your way more than welcome; that is the KLA policy as it is the policy of all lacrosse organizations.
