This seems a little out of place with the CIF chatter going on, but in club world Newbury beat out Agoura in a very thrilling game. Agoura ties it up at the last second(literally...horn was blowing when shot went in) to take it to double overtime with a newbury win. The last shot was great though, as the horn was blowing. One of those times where half the people present put their arms up in a "goal" sign and the other half start waving their arms "no goal".
Its a little known fact that if there is common agreement on the call among players, the referees will defer judgement to the sidelines...

Notre Dame High School
San Jose
Level: JV (It's our first year, Harker is our Varsity)
Number: 19
Position: Goalie
Year: Senior
The most experience anyone has on the team is one year of club. But, the team has mainly freshmen and sophomores, so my prediction for the team in the next 3 years is that they would probably be a whole lot better than how we are this year.
We're 0-2 right now.

yeah, my team was up there. We kinda got jipped with the competion we played against (we got put in the second level/bracket). We went 3-1 off a fluke overtime loss. First of all, we should have never been in that situtation where we were coming from behind and had to tie the game (but we started slow and were playing sloppy) but then it was like two seconds left in overtime, and we missed 3 shots and the ball came down the field, deflected off someone's stick, off one of our d-pole's helmet, and into the goal. But it wouldn't have mattered anyways, cuz we couldnt play in the champion ship game cuz we had to catch our flight.

My team went for the first time.
We won our first game against Carmel and lost the next three to Menlo-Atherton, Stevenson, and Cathedral, but not by too much.
It's nice to know that a first-year CIF team like us could compete fairly well with some other more established programs.

yeah i heard la costa ran some kind of crazy offense and had great stick skills..Your THIRD slide, yes THIRD slide, has to be perfect, or he'll be wide open near the crease all the time. From what I saw when we played them, they'd have a guy dodge, draw a man, the crease guy would get a quick look, clear through, and another guy would come streaking through for a quick pass, wide open because the second slide followed the crease guy. You almost need to run an adjacent then coma slide.

cdm did just about the same thing to us. 3 of their players had like 3 goals and 3 assists. it was like we didn't even show up to play. they've got one great middie, #12, then two attackmen who just don't drop the ball. i found the reason they run the score up so much on their opponents is that they simply don't give the ball up! the ball was on our side of the field 90% of the time. they win faceoffs, then they score.
hell of a frustrating game.

we beat one of our rivals last night in our first league game.
granite hills(us) 11 - vahalla(them) 9
we were leading by alot by the first half, but started to slow down a bit, but picked it back up in the end.
as of april 4th, we are (6-4), ranked 9 of 36 in san diego CIF; 1 of 7 in CA grossmont section; and 43 of 152 in CA D1
all info taken from laxpower.com
link to our laxpower page (http://www.laxpower.com/update08/binboy/XGRACA.PHP)
weve played our hardest teams in the beginning of the season, alot of which could have been won if we were playing to our ability. but it should be a breeze to finish up the season and hopfully win league.
we were undeafeated in league last year, and so far this season we are still undefeated in league, so hopefully we can keep that going.

ATTENTION SOCAL LAXERS:
the indoor box league is now official. They have 2 leagues at 2 different arenas. It is sponsored by the LA riptide. The two locations are the toyota center, in EL Segundo, and the roller Dome in thousand oaks CA. Each location will have a mens league and 1 high school leagues and the roller dome has a middle school league. It costs about $195 to play and that covers a game jersey and a season ticket to the LA riptide games. Sign up quickly because they will only have 6 teams in each division. The games are held after season in the summer. usually on a tuesday or friday after noon/ night depending on where you are playing at. REMEMBER, the equiptment that you wear in box may be different than you wear in outdoor. PLEASE remember this. IE: you have to wear rib/ kidney pads. look at the league rules so you know what you are getting yourself into.

From what I've heard the BayAreaLax.com leagues are legit.
They are based off the East Coast leagues where you're basically playing full games with refs every week against other HS/club teams and all they care about is having fun, giving away gear, pinnies, t-shirts, stupid stuff
I know the girls side of it will be bigger and has some pretty legit teams playing but it'd be awesome to see some solid competition on the boys side too. I'm assuming some of the PAL teams get in on it since its especially local for them. As a coach it will be an awesome way for me to come out and see a lot of players at once.

Grayson got two goals in yesterday's OP vs PV game. Palos Verdes goes on and OP's season is now over. A good run for their first shot at CIF. Could have been better, could have scheduled more games against some tougher teams. Too bad the tournament held at Foothill was not regulation game format.

PV is not that good. The only reason they changed their mind about playing you (OP) during the regular season is OP's team dropped an unexpected player just before the season was to start. They (PV) only played 4 games with teams ranked over 90.0, two of those games were against OP. They lost the other two. PV should be ranked close to what OP is ranked. However, I do play for them. Agoura had some very good players, notably numbers 2, 17, and 26, but they did not have the depth that our team has, and I believe they had some trouble adjusting to the more physical style of play that norcal brings to the table, at least according to the attackman I spoke to. However, by norcal standards, our team is more finesse than brute force in style. Which team do you play for, tomtom?

We do have players from more than one high school, because we are not affiliated with any high school. Most of the players on our team have been with the redhawks since middle school, and none of our area schools have lacrosse teams. We're not some sort of all-star team, we don't even make cuts.
I don't think we were that physical last year or this year, though our game last year against Woodbridge turned pretty ugly. However, I do think we are more physical this year than we were last year, and the other norcal team in the tournament, Petaluma, has a bit of a reputation for going for big hits and playing rough. I was just going by the attackman I guarded, who said that he was used to socal refs calling the game tighter.
Tomtom, we don't have a #13, and I think it was #1 who hit you with his shot. I'm sorry you had to have surgery, but I'm not entirely surprised. He does have a wicked hard shot. I hope your recovery goes well, and that there's no lasting damage. What did you think of your game against us?

Guess it was #1, since Im obviously mistaken about the 13! From the part I was around for, I thought you played a great game. It was 0-0 when I left, but I recall several near misses where only the wetness of your attack's pockets prevent a goal. Didn't get the impression of your team being overly physical at all really. I saw excellent stick work, GREAT off ball movement, and some solid outside shooters to boot from your offense.
Petaluma, however, I was disgraced with. I would expect that a host team would have the ability to take a loss without resorting to big, unneccesary hits and cheap shots. There were also a few fans who seemed to do nothing but look for trouble (in particular a few younger ones). Im normally not one to berade a team or trash talk in any way, but I for one feel two concussions in the last 3 minutes of the game is too much to be chance. As for the officiating in that game, they did a good job tightening the calls at the halftime. Unfortunately, it seems very few people knew why it was done. I'm a little embarassed at my own team's reactions to some of the 3rd quarter slash calls, but hopefully the 4th quarter showed them why the calls got tighter.

Sophmore Varsity Brentwood School in Los Angeles. #33, #2 Attackmen. California Mission League. We have Del Dressel (hopkins) as our coach and Mark Murphy (georgetwon) as an assistant (Two of the greatest players ever). We didnt play well this season due to injuries and will have only two seniors next year, one who is a solid defender and one who doesnt play so were rebuilding but come two years we will be all seniors and juniors and a solid team. we also have gotten a football/lacrosse 6'4 kid from moses brown in rhode island and he plays lsm which is just what we need. 2 kids are trying to walk on at Penn and one is trying to at UCSB

We could have used a game before going into playoffs.

yo we played you today. i didnt know hochstadt was coaching you guys, cuz doesnt he coach the dragons too?Our head coach was off coaching the other half of our Elite team (you only played half of us lol), so Hochy filled in, 'cause he's a baller and can do what he wants.
i personally think all the other s**t is sugar coated and watered down...and cali, what was the final score? i wanna see if i can give him a hard time or not.5-4, them, although they only played part of our Elite team; the other part was off playing Olympian or someone, and one of our stud midfielders was in Prague for something. They're very talented, but beatable. #1 with the silver helmet is SICK.

And yes, back to back games absolutely sucks, I feel for ya. That was probably me who got jacked (both of them are beasts, but I thought they both played D?), I think I remember getting laid out that game. I had a goal and assist though. Laxman, what number were you? I was #3 (gold helmet, attackman), I had that ridiculously lucky quickstick right on the crease.
Oh yeah, one of our midfielders bit through his lip (not kidding) and had to leave the game. Crazy stuff.
