this is the tutorial for the custom black truth that i posted up a little while ago.
for this tutorial you will need 2 leathers 2 pieces of 6-6.5 foot string 6 pieces of 2.5-3 foot strings 2 pieces of 7-7.5 pieces of string and lots of patience.
you are going to want to string the leathers into the head like this

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_11368e.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_11368e.jpg)

then you want to use the top hole and string the 6 foot string into the hole and throught the leather like the picture shows.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_114a3b.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_114a3b.jpg)

then you want to cross the strings together and intertwine them like this.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_116daf.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_116daf.jpg)

when tightened they should look like this.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_117747.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_117747.jpg)

the strings should be attached to the leathers with double traditional knots.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_11819d.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_11819d.jpg)

you should note that the knots are on the leather closest to you with the face of the head down.
then repeat the twist pattern to creat a circle like in the picture.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_119eb2.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_119eb2.jpg)

you will repeat this untill the channel reaches the desired length then you will make the saddle to close up the channel.
The saddle will be used once you have finished the channel it is made by bringing a single string from the two you used to make the channel all the way across the leathers and tieing a double traditional not there then when you come back across with that string loop over the first string you came across with and repeat until you get a saddle of desired length.

you will then want to do the sidewalls and they should look like this.
http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_124653.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_124653.jpg)
the next step is the big word sides these will use the 2.5-3 foot strings and will be made about the size of your thumb in half circle/oval things the knot is like a topstring knot just on a string and not a head.
http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_125a4d.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_125a4d.jpg)
http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_126e38.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_126e38.jpg)
once you go down the whole side of the head it should look like this.http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_127205.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_127205.jpg)
you then want to do the same thing to the other side and try to make it as similar to the first side as possible.
http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_128685.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_128685.jpg)
the next step is to repeat what you just did on both sides two more times going one hole higher on each one if it is possible if it is not then you will have to make slack when you use the same hole to make the loops once you repeat the whole procedure 3 times it should look like this.
http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_13198f.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_13198f.jpg)

the next thing that you are going to want to do to make the last few steps
easier is to put in a ball and knife so you can string it into a pocket and it will be easier to break in.
the next phase of the pocket will start at the very top hole and your will intertwine this string with the channel string like shown in this picture.

the knots will be interlocked with the knots from the channel and a good guide on that is in the interlocking knots tutorial. the coils are formed by continuing from the frist knot to the second and then bring ing the string out to the big word sides going under the string like in this picture.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_13358a.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_13358a.jpg)

then pull the string until it is semi tight and string coils untill you cannot fit them on the string and repeat it on the other side so you can make sure that both strings are the equal length and are of equal number of coils like in this picture.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_1346d3.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_1346d3.jpg)

you will continue this down the whole head until you get to the last double traditional knot on the circle channel design that last coil is to be brought down one extra loop so it is diagonal and holds the ball in on one handed cradles it should look like this.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_136af5.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_136af5.jpg)

before coiled and once coiled you will go down to the second double traditional knot in the saddle after that you will do what is shown in this picture.

http://imagesocket.com/thumbs/Picture_13993c.jpg (http://imagesocket.com/view/Picture_13993c.jpg)

and the attachment to the center leather will look like this.

It looks good except the channel looks to busy. Other than that I like it. could you get some more pics of the completed product up?

In the future I wouldn't do a tutorial in all black.. lighter / varying colors show the details and (i cant spell this word, I'm going phonetically) intricacies better

that would look sweet with a dyed black head

Looks a little sloppy but still a good pocket. But as Nukon said next time use a lighter crosslace.

No offense, but this tutorial seems a little hard to understand. It would help if you used contrasting colors to see where the strings go. Awesome stringing job nonetheless.

i wanted to keep the all black because that is how i first did it and it just seemed right to go all black at the time but now that it has been said it would be easier to follow it it was in a different color i will keep that in mind if i make another good custom that on the tutorial i should make the colors contrast but thanks for the compliments and good luck following the tutorial.

not much more than a regular custome sometimes you may have to tighten thrings or move double trad knots but its not that difficult to maintain or i dont think it is that difficult
