View Full Version : Has anyone here played PotomacLacrosse?

I'm gonna be in 10th grade and I signed up to play in the fall league. Has anyone here played on a Potomac Lacrosse team? Is it competative? Are the teams good? This is my first season. Do you meet with your team before your first game (I'm being assigned to a random team). Do you run plays and stuff?

EDIT: Its a game only league

I played against Potomac in the U-15 youth festival, and they absolutely killed us. We didn't even tough the ball the enitre second half, however this seems like a club, and I don't believe the team I played was a club.

you played a team of kids made up of players that reside within the boundries of the potomac chapter of US lacrosse. laxer is talking about a company that organizes leagues for players. also not to be confused with potomac school in McLean, VA

i dont know anything about the potomac league, but if its like other fall teams ive coached, its games only. no practices, so if you guys are runnning plays they will be ones that you come up with on the sidelines. play hard and have a great time.

are you in maryland or VA?

Yeah, that was what I was figuring although I wasn't sure because I heard the Potomac team I played had been playing together for a year. My team only played together for a month.

i'd be suprised if that was the case.
i didnt have any players on this years team, but ive had at least 1 player on that team for all of the past 4-5 years, and they start practices about the same time that our season is winding down, about a month before the festival

Yes I have. At the middle school level not at all, but its better at the high school level. If your playing in the rec league, the teams won't be great. It'll be mostly Montgomery County JV teams.You don't mett your team beforehand unless they go to your school. You may just be assigned to one the MoCo JV teams. Essentially thats what it is.

Yea ive played. The teams werent too good, but its a pretty good leuge. Then again there isnt to many fall leuges with good teams

there are a lot of beginners in the league, the teams are made up of public schoolers, the majority of which are bad, and then jv teams

Yea we played them too at that U-15 festival at Amherst two summers ago (05). I played on the Lonestar team and we actually tied them in a scrimage but they were really good.

Did you sign up for Jv or Varsity? you should get an email telling you your team
Post what team you will get assigned because if your randomly being assigned you might be on my team also

Fall League is usually as difficult as your regular season but not competitive or anything i heard its pretty chill, you will most likely play against teams the same skill as you

As a beginner if you can do the basic stuff you could be fine i mean you will get better quick because you are gonna have to catch up to everyone else....

Richard Montgomery JV Team....i dont think RM is that good..at lease not as good as prep...so i hope i will be fine in my first league
