I dunno about you, but a 4.4 is pretty damn fast. Not alot of football players run that.
Andrew Goldstein of DartmouthAre we talking current & former Div1 laxers or just current ones, b/c Goldstein graduated in 2005.

You should seriously look up some NFL combine stats, because a 4.4 time is exceptional for nearly every position. A time lower than that, a 4.3, you'll only get from a few players per combine.
Liblax44
08-22-2006, 03:50 PM
lets say current players and 4.4 for football is nothing reggie bush ran a 40 in 4.23 in the combine

ya dude there are 4 people on my football team who run faster than 4.5 and 2 who ran a 4.45 so i kno there are several college guys that can run faster than 4.4s

I don't know his name, but there was a middie on Notre Dame's team that out ran everyone who tried to defend him at the Irish-UVa game. If I can remember his number I will let you all know.

Thats Brian Jacovina (sp) and yea he's wicked fast but the wierd thing is that my friend who plays for them says he isn't even the fastest on the team. Umass has some wicked quick middies like pedrick for example.

um i would have agreed with you on this before he had major knee surjury, he'll never as fast as he used to be
malax31
08-22-2006, 09:34 PM
are we talking about quick or fast? they are two completely diffrent things.
and about the 4.4, there are about 3-4 players a year who run sub-4.4 40's at the NFL combine. the fastest i have seen is jerome mathis, a 3rd round pick of the texans not last draft but the draft before, out of Howard (Va.) ran a 4.19. that might be the fastest combine time ever (and bush did not run a 4.23 btw, tye hill had the fastest 40 at 4.31)

Were are you guys getting this? Mathis ran a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, straight of his page on NFL.com.
And reggie ran a 4.35, not a 4.23, again, straight off of NFL.com
Please get your facts straight, don't jsut make them up
And sorry, I didn't kow that Golstein had graduated, I had just remeberd the video.

its pretty easy to tear your ACL. basically your leg goes one way and your foot doesnt and something has to give.

i have seen brooks over the summer to and it i saw him at lots of things over the summer and he was hobbling around i saw him jog across the field with a brace on to in philly so thats good news and brooks injured it about 5 to 6 months ago

i had knee surgery. you hobble around for a while, but after you do all that rehab and work out your leg gets stronger. I was faster after my surgery than before. and brooks could already burn almost everybody so i'm sticking with him.

Does anyone here actually read Inside Lacrosse?
IL did a D1 player survey (1 or 2 issues ago) and one of the questions was "Who is the fastest player in D1?"
Answer: 1. Will Barrow, UVA 2. Steven Brooks, Syracuse
With regards to Jacovina, at the 2006 Final 4 one of the broadcasters (Dave or Quint, can't remember which) stated that he set UMASS 40 yard dash record. I don't know if that means the UMASS Lacrosse team or the school's record. Honestly, I'd be surprised if it was the school's, although the kid is SPEEDY!

dude alot of football players run 4.4's or faster
Well, most people believe that because nobody loves lying about their 40 times more than football players. You always hear about these guys running 4.2's, 4.3's, and 4.4's, and then at the NFL combine they show up and run .15 slower than they led us to believe. Who was that Texas Longhornes linebacker 2 years ago that won the Butkus who supposedly ran a 4.4? He ran a 4.73 at the combine.

12-31-2006, 01:39 PM
sean morris. not only is he incredibly fast in the long run, but he can pretty much beat any defender in a one on one cause his explosiveness and afility is to quick. especially when he goes parallel to the goal back and forth a few times, then he has a wide open crank shot from 10 yards out. in one of the UMASS games, they said he squats over 550, and for a guy that size, thats insane.

he probably is the fastest in d1. he was offered football scholorships to a lot of diffrent prestigious programs to play cornerback so that tells you something about his speed
