I was wondering about all these big name companies like Nike, addidas, etc... And i asked myself why wouldnt they be involved with lacrosse already? I mean lacrosse is a sport in which a company puts a new label on a shaft and then charges more money for it every year. It came to me that maybe lacrosse isn't worth it to them. Maybe the money that would be needed for them to get into the sport just is not worth it. I believe with New balence and Reebok already in the sport maybe its too late for a nike or an addidas to get in and make money. Because at the end of the day, money is all that matters to them. My question to the people of TLF is "Is It worth it for the remaining major atlhletic companies to get into the sport"?
Yes it is, i love competition between companies. Nike surely has enough money to start in the lax business. I am guessing they are waiting for another big boost in the popularity of the sport. Some companies believe that lax wont become bigger than it is now and that is why they suppose that they should invest in the sport.

If people already owns shoes and clothes etc. from Nike, why won't they buy the stuff they market?

definitely worth it. Just give it some time. I don't think they feel the market is big enough for their companies yet or somethin along those lines.

I love nike shoes, shirts, and shorts. Same with adidas. If they came out with lacrosse equipment, Id definetly buy it. I dont know about sticks, but pads yeah. But Nike already has lacrosse cleats "Speedsharks" I think. Hey, atleast its a start.

I think what they are trying to do is slowly ease their way into the market. Alot of the companies sponser alot of teams/events and make lax cleats and acessory stuf like that. I think that they will slowly introduce lax specific apparel and performance ger then into pads then sticks and what not. In other words, they are trying to gorw "with" lacrosse. As lax gets bigger they get bigger in lax.

it most definately is. lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and the major athletic companies would be smart to start making some products for us laxers. all they can do is make more money.

Pretty sure Nike already makes cleats specifically for lacrosse. They might not be as fully into the lacrosse market as, say, Warrior, however, they may just be taking it slow to see where the sport goes.

I agree with everything that has been said.
When you look at the history of lax...it has been growing rapidly over the past few decades but nothing like it has grown in the past...I'd say 5-6 years. These past 5-6 years has been a literal boom.
So they are testing the water with apparell, and cleats. They also need time to decide what company they want to take over. I mean Nike is not just going to start a lax division. By purchasing a company they get immediate results and experience. Then comes negotiating the purchase of said company.
I would say in the next 1-2 years Nike and or Reebok will both be in the market as manufacturers.

if you think about it these companies are already in the apperal and shoe business (most of our cleat, socks, compression shorts, are from them)
if they began making gear (pads, gloves, heads shafts) they would have more money to spend in R&D and we may come up with newer lighter yet stronger shafts or tightly pinced heads that are not as flexable(sp) out of some new age materials... so it would be a good thing...
plus these guys have huge marketing capacities that would probably help mainstreaming Lacrosse. And maybe just maybe they can leverage some of their weight and get other sponsorships on the majors level (an MLL w/o Warrior dominance)

If they just dive in, they'll end up releasing a bunch of crap equipment. They're going to wait and develop nice things, and then release those. Or, buy out a big company.

It is definitely worth it, but Im not so sure about how much companies like Nike and Adidas are anoxious to jump in. They'll probably wait a little longer until lacrosse isn't viewed as a "minor sport" anymore.

i think they should because it would be a big boost in popularity if the people hooked on the companies started to see lax advertisement then say "hey if ________ is(company name)involved in lax then mabey its an alright sport
