okay im sure some of this has been posted but im looking for a mp3 player that isnt too expensive but i still want good quality that meets my needs. i need to able to take it to the gym/running. i also need an average amount of harddrive space. and lastly im sick of burning music onto cds just to listen to them in the car and my cd player has a spot for an mp3 player plug in, what do i need from an mp3 player to be able to play it in the car? any suggestions would be awesome thanks

I am going to stick with the Apple iPod mini...

why?

1. 250$ (cheap for 4 gigs, the hard drive alone is worth 500$ and alot of people bought them to get that drive...)
2. Stylish - i hate to say it but it looks badass.
3. Amazing support community: www.ipodlounge.com
4. Can you say Accesories? www.xskn.com , http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip_mini/ , http://www.apple.com/ipod/accessories.html ,
5. itunes. boo ya. http://www.apple.com/itunes/ it makes it really easy to transfer your music to the computer and then to the iPod.
6. iTrip - your in car solution, it broadcasts a signal off the mini to the car radio, nice quality.

I would say something else, but the mini seems to fit your needs.

Dont get the 15 GB one btw its going to be phased out this summer.

Honestly go to www.ipodlounge.com and ask the same question, they are good, RATIONAL people, and not fanboys. Just understand that its an iPod community... you may get a biased response from some posters(Jackonicko and Tombo77)

I have an ipod [not the mini but I think they work the same] and once you put itunes on your comp it will just be like another player. The only problem is, if you don't have the songs on your computer, you will have to add them, which takes a long time. By taking a long time I mean, you have to type in the song name, artist, cd--so when you all your cds it takes a while.

Delete those and Re-rip man. Converting them is worhtless and WMA sucks my nads in sound quality... It will be worth it...

And it takes me around 5 minutes to rip a CD... (192 Kbps MP3)

For space just rip your files at 128 kbps (Mp3)

yeh im reripping but its actually better bc i realized when i 1st got this computer i went rip crazy and had a ton of cds on here i dont need so i deleted most of it not to mention the amount of other "videos" i had on here that i deleted id rather not say the amount of drive space i just made by deleating my video folder contents...oh yeh couple more questions about the mini... the itrip thing using the radio frequency so if the station i set it to is static does the ipod's music become static? just curious i was thinking if im gonna get the ipod mini i should prolly just get the itrip and the docking thing

i dont really like the minis, if i were you i'd just get a regular ipod. the mini i have tends to freeze up a lot and i really don't like how the buttons are on the wheel.

true...i really dont care for the mini because instead of $250 on a 4gb, if you just drop an extra $50 you could get the 15gb model for $300

Update the firmware fool.

Windows people.... you guys will never learn, UPDATE REGULARLY!!!

OSX has security/performance/etc fixes everyday.... Same with Windows, just no updates until the last second...

If you decide to go buy the ipod instead of the mini ipod you will need to buy the 2.0 usb port or whatever its called. Unless you have a mac then the one that comes with it is compatiable.
