At Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, there is a sign in several languages telling what you can't take on a plane and lacrosse sticks are listed.

Stefan Raab, a German comedian, kept wearing shirts with "lacrosse" on them for a few weeks on his show....they were actually Abercrombie shirts, though.

While I skeptical to the last comment (well some foreigners may decide to learn about American culture from the dregs of our cinema), it's interesting in that the previous IL's coverage of the world championships, specifically the column on Finland was essentially about being inspored by "that Steve Stifler sport" and becoming one of the surprises of the tourney.

its spreading like wild fire. i know this is good, but sometimes, i just wish the snobby kids didnt play. they always make fun of my gear because it isnt flashy enough for them. its really anoying. theres like 4 kids that tried out in the summer(we are starting to take lax VERY seriously), and 2 of them are already comparing how expensive their sticks are compared to mine. one kids like" well i guess your a bigger noob than me because i have freaks, leviSuction, and razer pro" i was just laughing because he couldnt catch with them because it was too pinched for him. they he ended up ripping his gloves and at the end of the tryouts, i said he should see how strong his stick was, so i asked him to swing his stick at the goal post. lol it snapped . i kinda feel bad cuz that was a lot of money and we saw his dad scream at him...

other than that, ya they dont call lacrosse the fastest growing team sport for nothing

I think is sad that when I first went to college last year I met so many wanna be laxer posers, the super preppie frat boys constantly throwing around in front of their frat to show off, even though they know nothing about the game besides throwing a catching. When I brought out my d pole and ask if they played they were shocked and was like WTF is that nasty thing? And I was like......UGH U DISGUIST ME U FREAKING POSERS. And outside my dorms I see all these kids throwing around but again they know nothing of the sport and dont attempt to actually play a game or even learn about, I told them that theres a lacrosse club but they dont care about playing but merely the image of throwing a ball around with their $30 STX AV8 and soft mesh, very very clean brand snow white mesh that has never gotten dirty from a picking up a ball. Never a dent in their sticks from a check. And not even understanding the concept of cradling. I know I went on a rant here but Lacrosse is Lacrosse, its a sport, not some u sport to look cool, carrying ur brand new white soft mesh stick around campus just makes you look like a poser.

...So did you ever get to any games? See those guys?
Actually because I played Pee Wee football, we got to go to their training camp at Hofstra, and got a chance to meet some of them (*refering to the Jets).
Did you play any other sports?
Lacrosse.

One of our players was on a Norwegian reality show about teens at a weight loss camp. They followed up and filmed him in lax practice afterwards and showed it for a minute or two on TV.

1. Really has nothing to do with this thread, but it's funny. A girl at my school needs to take up time from her suspension so shes picking an easy sport. She chose lacrosse. I laughed, and told her to go play softball. (the suspension is because of drinking)

2. There was no youth lacrosse clinics for more than one session until this past summer.

3. I also saw that Disney Channel thing.

I was watching "Good Morning America" this morning before I left for school to check on the weather
Sometimes they have reporters go to random spots to introduce the weather, or news or something and this time, the guy was with the NY Titans. It was showing some kids at some camp or something and they were practicing and running and stuff.
It was quite the good morning for me.

Lets see

in the Movie "She's the Man", the begining has the main character's soccer team kicked off the field so the boys lacrosse team just start doing drills, making them go away

in Rocky 2, i think, right after rocky faces Hulk Hogan, and the marching band is playing, u see kids in the backgroud pointing up old lacrosse sticks

This is kind of a stretch, but in the movie Sin City, when that big guy (can't remember his name) is about to kill that stealthy guy with the glasses that eats women, he puts on some lacrosse gloves. I'm not sure why but I'm guessing it was for extra protection. If I can recall I think they were STX gloves. So, basically what I am trying to say is that if you want to get gloves with extra protection, you gotta go with STX.

i dont think anyone would notice it, but i was flipping through chanels and i found the old nick GAS channel. so nickelodeon guts was on, that bad sports show where like 13 and 14 yr olds would compete in what they referred to as "extreme" sports. so i was watching and they always do the replay at the end before they go to the agro crag. so i saw and one of the events was jumping on a bungee rope off and back onto a platform, but you had to shoot a lacrosse bal with a lacrosse stick into a raised circular goal. it was the funniest thing ive ever seen because they were terrible at it.
in american pie i forgot one of the guys names but stiffler and the other kid play lax and they showed a game

i noticed that too, and somewhere online i was reading an article, and it was titled "steve stiffler - leader of a revolution". i read on and it said that after american pie was aired, people all wondered what that oblong sport he was playing. it drove people to find out, and a lot of people started playing between that time and 2 years later...hard to believe. there was also an article called "the godfather of lacrosse" and it was about the same thing. i gotta find those articles.

Well, I guess I will chime in with some lacrosse sightings of my own.
As I was flipping through channels on the tube a couple days ago, I paused for a few seconds on PBS (the best channel ever ), and I noticed a pair of lacrosse sticks leaning against a wall in the background.
Also, on the back inside flap of the Guinness Book of World Records 2008, there are a couple pictures of the Green and Orange teams from MetroLacrosse playing.
Thats all I've got at the moment...

The best by far is in The Girl Next Door, when all of the seniors are reminising (SP) about all of the good times. And the guy says something like "Oh ya! captain of the lacrosse team..." and you see him truck stick someone. haha

There was this fair in my uncles town 2 years ago with this dude who was juggling a bunch of different things. First he started with normal stuff, you know bowling pins, tennis balls, etc, and then moved onto more unique things like lacrosse balls and then lacrosse sticks. It was pretty cool, but to be fair it was in a town where lax is really popular, and i think he may have been an assistant coach on the local high school team.

on one of those ncaa student athlete commercials, this guy is chilling at a table studying with his lax gear on the floor. also, in one of the US army commercials, theres a lax coach talking with his team behind him (not really, just actors, but it was cool).

that "kid" was ryan powell. one of the greatest players to play the game. calling him "that kid". is like watching a b-ball game with LeBron james and calling him "a kid"

A lacrosse stick is on an episode of seinfeld. Its the one where Kramer has to keep his skin moist because he fell asleep with the butter all over him. Newman is stirring the butter into the hot tub with a lacrosse stick.

lol some kid just made a thread about this lol it got closed and a link to this thread came up.

yes but it is cool that lacrosse is a growing thing.
