Haha umm jim trussle the head coach from ohio state came to our high school to talk to and watch our RB lift weights when he was a sophmore and i still havent herd what ur team was ranked in ohio which yea is known as a huge football player producing state but my we (Indiana) have produced many quality player in the past few year and u cant deny that. Hey thanks pacersguy ... Carmel just finished first in indoor and the other teams were HSE, Cathedral, Brebeuf, Heritage Christian and Westfield. But out of those teams Heritage and Westfield were the 2 second best, if anyone cares. When does everyone start conditioning for the season??? We start the week after winter break. :(

This is the preseason coaches top 5 poll. The numbers in ( ) are the first place votes each team received respectively. This is only a poll, however this should reflect upon how the season shall end. With Heritage Christian beating Laporte in overtime 15-14 to claim the State title due to HC's tremendous attackers. Predictions for the consolation tournament are that Snider will defeat slumping Carmel 13-5.

laporte is number one?? that's interesting, maybe they've got something in the works up there. but the reason st. joe can take people who go to penn is because they're lacrosse is not a varsity sanctioned team at st. joe where as here as park tudor if we were to have any team members from another school we'd lose our varsity status

The rule is from this year onwards, there is a 6 year window in which a team can draw from other schools. So, if St. Joe has guys from Penn, then the last year that school is eligble to join is 2013. This is to help grow the number of schools playing lacrosse in Indiana by forcing schools that send lots of their kids to another school to start their own team.

zville lax, i concur. zville will still be good, but waht kind of attack do you guys have after losin all three starters. your goalie is still good, i remember one or two d guys who should still be around from last year, and i know a couple of your senior middies who are good players. got anyone comin up for first year at starting varsity who has some good talent?

Well we had two juniors, now seniors, on varsity last year so they know the system and plus two now seniors coming up from JV. The only one guy didn't play on varsity was cause he broke his left his soph season and then his collarbone during indoor. He pretty much raged, on JV lead the team if not the league in goals and assists. He's # 30 too, i guess we're gonna have to flip for the number. The other one's not bad either and the other is a junior he has some skills too. But in reality the type of offense we run, the middies are alot gonna be alot more imporant, so losing the entire attack isn't as huge as you think. We also have a rage at D he chose to play on JV cause he hated Callahan and JV was more fun. So in reality we didn't really lose that much.

yea zville will have an all senior defense including a really good goalie so its gunna be tough to get the rock in the net aginst u guys thats for sure. So will brebeuf, they've got great poles im not sure about the goalie just cause i havent seen him play. St. Joe will have a pretty good defense and a great goalie.

corey is a good goalie, but lets be honest, he is not the best in the nation. st joe has a solid team, to bad heritage and st joe dont play during the season. his bro is a good attackmen, and they have one guy returnin on d who can give an attackmen some trouble. personally i think the top teams in no order will be brebeuf, st joe, heritage, culver, and carmel and zionsville will most likely be pretty close together talent wise.

St. Joe does have some very talented players but whats hrut them in the past is that they arent deep. They dont have a roster full of really talented guys and there offense is kinda limited to casey, sean and 1-2 others. for them to win corey would have to have about 80% saves and more people would have to really step up and get some goals.

Yeah I have no idea what your talking about with a one small kid, I'm 5'10 180. Maybe that was #42 he was a little **** that got laid out a lot last year. Yeah Zach was a badass teammate and definately a beast.

Brebeuf's goalie is pretty good. He's had a ton of experience in goal playing soccer in middle school, and then 4 years under DJ Gary in high school.

haha cheng you always ruin all my fun haha ... and st.joeindianas its a pretty bold thing to say "we are going to win state this year" especially when its only preseason yes st. joe is going to be a very competitive team this year but dont think that because you have casey who yes very well might be the best attackmen in the state will lead your team to victory every game. you guys do have some pretty good poles yea sure but nothing that would rival cathedrals defense last year which was an great line. corey is yes most likely goin to be the best goalie in the state he is an exdrodianary player but there is only one of him where as here at carmel we have danny salazzo who played with corey on team indiana and we also have barret shwartz who played in the all star game with corey in rising stars. so while sure for single player abilty corey is better than either one usually but if one of our goalies is having an off game we can put the other in this is what will really help carmel this year.

hold on something you guys all ned to realize is that a win to any in-state team isnt the same ok a win over ohh say zionsville is in no way the same as a win over guerin (sp?) because there are only going to be 23 teams this year there will be a wide range of skill levels between teams. for instance our jv team which i played for last year beat what is now the noblesville varsity team 16-1 with our back-up goalie and yet noblesville isnt even the worst team in the state. This is what pisses me off about the Indiana all state team, since they choose players mainly from points but because not all teams play the same schedule they play weaker teams and can score more points. it honestly wouldnt be that hard for any top 4 team to schedule a very weak schedule and have probably 5 or 6 kids with atleats 60 points.

Yeah, we have a Butler player as our assistant now. Our head coach was the former athletic director at Butler and Brown, and a former Brown coach.

I don't think "smashed" is the correct term to use against NC. You won 6-5. That was NC's second game of the day, playing without 2 defensive starters and 1 starting middie who didn't make the trip, as well as one starting attack who got injured in the first game of the day. Furthermore, you changed to an orange ball only when the snow started blowing in your direction. Now, I'm not making excuses, a loss is a loss, but you cannot honestly call that "smashed."

Moreover, NC and Concord suck tremedously. But you're not the worst.

Goalies. There have been comments about goalie competence that I’d like to reply to.
A goalie does not work in a vacuum, so it is hard to judge by just looking at save percentage or number of saves. (I was surprised that a coach would comment on another school’s goalie’s ability when the stats don’t support the statement).

There are many factors to be considered when assessing goalies. For example, is a goalie at School A with a save percentage of 65% better than a goalie at School Z with a 60% save rate. Not necessarily. Perhaps a team like School A fields a much better defense and protects its goalie far better. If the School B goalie can save 60% of the time with the shots pouring in from the edge of the crease, maybe he is the better goalie, but will assuredly be suffering from shellshock before long.

Let’s look at a real game played a few weeks back. In this game, Heritage scored 19 goals to Westfield’s 3. Does this indicate that the Westfield goalie is less skilled? Hardly! Anyone watching that game would see that the Westfield goalie was being pummeled from the edge of the crease all night. Rarely were the HC attackers shooting from outside 4-5 yards, and many times actually toeing the crease. On the other end, the HC goalie was only confronted with 9 shots on goal all night. He stopped six. The save percentage of the opposing goalies was 67% to 38%. This is why you have to consider the other factors. Both HC’s offense and defense were stellar, whereas the Westfield offense was only able to score on unsettled situations and its defense was simply incapable of contending with the power lacrosse presented by Heritage.

And then there are the intangibles. Can the goalie direct the defense? Can he get off a sharp clearing pass to a middie running 20 yards away? Does he instill confidence in his team? It’s tough to judge a goalie on any statistic in a league with such a large difference in the overall quality and developmental level of the teams.

Note: I watched the Carmel goalie play two games over the weekend. He was excellent in both games, but played behind an incredible defense that would make a novice goalie look great! It’s easier to tend on the artificial turf, but still a fine effort on the goalie’s part.

There are many factors to be considered when assessing goalies. For example, is a goalie at School A with a save percentage of 65% better than a goalie at School Z with a 60% save rate. Not necessarily. Perhaps a team like School A fields a much better defense and protects its goalie far better. If the School B goalie can save 60% of the time with the shots pouring in from the edge of the crease, maybe he is the better goalie, but will assuredly be suffering from shellshock before long.

Let’s look at a real game played a few weeks back. In this game, Heritage scored 19 goals to Westfield’s 3. Does this indicate that the Westfield goalie is less skilled? Hardly! Anyone watching that game would see that the Westfield goalie was being pummeled from the edge of the crease all night. Rarely were the HC attackers shooting from outside 4-5 yards, and many times actually toeing the crease. On the other end, the HC goalie was only confronted with 9 shots on goal all night. He stopped six. The save percentage of the opposing goalies was 67% to 38%. This is why you have to consider the other factors. Both HC’s offense and defense were stellar, whereas the Westfield offense was only able to score on unsettled situations and its defense was simply incapable of contending with the power lacrosse presented by Heritage.

And then there are the intangibles. Can the goalie direct the defense? Can he get off a sharp clearing pass to a middie running 20 yards away? Does he instill confidence in his team? It’s tough to judge a goalie on any statistic in a league with such a large difference in the overall quality and developmental level of the teams.

Note: I watched the Carmel goalie play two games over the weekend. He was excellent in both games, but played behind an incredible defense that would make a novice goalie look great! It’s easier to tend on the artificial turf, but still a fine effort on the goalie’s part.

I don't think "smashed" is the correct term to use against NC. You won 6-5. That was NC's second game of the day, playing without 2 defensive starters and 1 starting middie who didn't make the trip, as well as one starting attack who got injured in the first game of the day. Furthermore, you changed to an orange ball only when the snow started blowing in your direction. Now, I'm not making excuses, a loss is a loss, but you cannot honestly call that "smashed."

Moreover, NC and Concord suck tremedously. But you're not the worst.


haha i know, i know we didnt smash them. and i was telling the ref. to switch to an orange ball since the first quarter and he would'nt. in the fourth quarter i finally put an orange ball in his hands and he finally got the point

It's by the laxpower rating that considers only in state games. It was explained to us after we got screwed out the tourney last year.

not long usally it streams as it plays and plays well but sometimes u have to let the computer sit for about 5-10 minutes then play the vid
