Well the Home and Away merry go round is over, now spring is near and people start giving a damn about lacrosse for a couple of weeks.
Week 1 at Footscray:

State League

Eltham V Williamstown [should be close; both teams stacked with talent from the Aussie team, two good goalies and so forth, im going to be bias and say Willy by 1]
Surrey Park Vs Camberwell [The leagues least aesthetically pleasing team from Camberwell beat the perennal bridesmaids from Surrey on the back of Surrey missing the leagues highest scorer(Whitbourn) and another key attackman, i dont think the Wells can do it two weeks in a row, Surrey by 4]

Div One

Altona Vs Footscray[Altona always seem to get it done in Div One and Footscray are on the improve despite losing a good goalie to MCC, old heads should prevail, but who will win the punch on?, Altona by 3]

Moreland Vs Eltham[Moreland are struggling for numbers, Eltham are as well compared to recent history but im going to go with Eltham here, Panthers by 5]

Div Two

Camberwell Vs Melb Uni[ apparently C'Well should be in Div One, they should win handsomely]

Melbourne Vs Williamstown[ Willy won the last one on the back of Gibson's 9 G 4 A effort, depends on how many MCC drop from State League and how many permits Willy get for this one, with goalies playing attack it's always funny]

Division Three

Melb Uni Vs Caulfield[nfi]

Altona Vs Camberwell[nfi]

I heard a rumor that Andy Whitbourn claimed he would never play for surrey ever again. Perhaps Minatour or somebody else from surrey could shed some light on what is actulay happening with him? Personaly i think camberwell can beat them again i watched the game on the weekend andf it was the first SL game i'd seen in ages, And the guys had a game plan and they stuck to it for most of the game and it was quite effective and it was only in the later part of the game we let them get close due to a drop in concerntration and undiciplined play.

And our D2 team has gone undeafeted all season and will probs be moved upto D1 next season. Last week we beat melb uni by 10 odd goals and by all acounts from our guys they didn't play very well so i'd expect us to win quite easely.

And as for D3 we have played Altona on two occasions this season and have beat them both times, However i am expecting a much stronger team to show up for the finals for them and it should be a good game. I still think we will come out on top.

Sorry fellas, can't really shed some insight into the dynamics that led to AW's apparent meltdown. Players I've talked to tell me he was pulled off the field after an unforced error - happens to the best of us - and he spit the ultimate dummy.....just packed his gear and walked away into fading afternoon light.....nice ending for a novel! Only speculation at this point, but I'd say that they (state league) will not be having AW's services for the near future, although I hope he returns as he has had a great year. For my money, AW is one of the best "riding" attackmen in state league. Just hope the club can fix this one....

DIV ONE
Footscray VS Surrey
IMO Surrey are the team to beat with a strong attack and forward line and a very strong midfield. They had it over Footscray last time but Footscray have home ground advantage aswell as a strong attackline. (Surrey by Two)

Willy VS Eltham
Eltham have been in hot form lately knocking off, footscray, malvern comfortably and Willy. They have Mundell who is an absolute gun player. The key for Willy is their goalie tim who when he wants to can be match winnning. (Eltham by 3)

I'm predicting an Eltham Vs Surrey final with Surrey coming up but it will be close.

We have been the underdogs all season and will stay the under dogs. We have proved we are up their but teams leik footscray and willi are still denying we have any chance.

I think it will come down to a replay of last years grandfinal. And will be close to the very end.

Pumped guys! yes we are against the undeafeated 300+% differential team from camberwell but it's great to play finals regardless. Even if we lose, it gives us a chance to meet the goalie from willy playing in attack

u15s div 1 today was Camberwell vs Surrey Park for a spot in the grand final.
with a 9am game, surrey unfortuately didnt wake up till the second half when they made the score a little more respectable, with it finishing as about 20-8. It will be a game to watch next week with Camberwell vs Williamstown Fearons

And Altona's players resorted to being sore losers with stupid fouls and childish acts such as throwing a footscray stick halfway down the field, kicking a footscray helmet, general thuggery.

Altona were just outplayed in every way, no need to try and make excuses.

He got clearence from Lacrosse Victoria, he only was not playing at the start of the season because the club suspended him for an internal matter, although he really always remained a part of the player group, as seen by the fact that he came back to play after all the players wrote and signed a letter to the commitee, and both he and the rest of the players agreed to certain conditions.

You are obviously grasping at straws to explain how badly you played, and makes both yourself, and Altona as a club look rather bad.

Warning Disclaimer: What aussielax writes is very bias towards camberwell.

In SL i think Eltham have a very good lineup and should on paper beat camberwell but i don't think we should be written off yet as we came very close to eltham earleyer in the season and have shown we can match it with them before. It was also said by the majority of our state league team they would rather come up against eltham this week than willy because they belive eltham's style of play is easeyer to play against and think they have a better chance of beating Eltham than they do will.

In D3 it should be a tight game melb uni are the only team that has beaten us on both occasions we played them this season but both weeks we played them we were very undermanned and were playing with a team mostley made up of juniors were as this week we will be putting our strongest team out on the field, However i am worried about the speed and fitness of melb uni so it should make for a close match.

In 17's caufield who is team that comprises of 3 or 4 very good players and not much else goes up against camberwell a team with a much more even spread of talent, however we will be missing a few key players due to injurys and sickness so it should also be a tight match.

And in 15's it should be another tight game with camberwell being the underdog's against willy.

i am glad it was a worthy spectacle for everyone who came along to see (compared with the tripe willy served up in 2004-5), although in the final i dont think either team played to their best. i'd like to give big ups to josh robinson from willy who caned joel cocarell (finals 2 games, 2 assists) in the finals series. eltham too good though

i thought the semi final was a higher quality game with better lacrosse played thoughout - ryan garnsworthy's 6g, 3a game was as good as ive seen.

Willy gave it a red hot go at the end....but if you give a 5 goal lead with 15 mins...it makes the job very hard!

The more our team started to come back to it's full strength the less Cocarell was used....While Robinson did well Cocarell was not the avenue we were depending on!
