I have. The books felt "cramped," like Paolini was trying to make another LOTR's.
In my opinion, (i've only read the first one) its a slightly above average book. I wouldn't have given it a second thought if it weren't for the fact that the dude was like 15 or something when he wrote it.

I would def. agree.....it becomes clear the book was written by a young adult w/ some repetitive adjectives & the wild imagination but I really like them. For any of you who have no idea what we're talking about it's a fantasy book w/ a Lord of the Rings type setting/place/people.....Obviously there are some diffrences otherwise it would be stupid to read both....It is a very good book though & I would reccomend it to anyone that liked LotR

BTW you know they're making movies out of them?

edit:wrote this while the 2 above posts were being written....

Very great books. Probably my second favorite series ever. I can't wait until the last one comes out. Chris Paolini's my hero cause I want to be able to write that well when I'm 20 years old.

yea they were made better by the fact he was 15 and he DID rip off other sci fi/fantasy books...LOTR type environment...ripped the "magical language" off of ursula k. leguin

i was syked when i found out movies were gonna come out

Oh yea I've read both of the books in the series. I thought they were fabulous, moreso for the fact that he was so young when he wrote Eragon. Addmitedly there are elements that are "ripped-off" other books, yet i would still recommend them to all readers.

I think its the combination of the "ripped concepts" that makes these books so dynamic, they are very well blended and everything works together, its not like its a story about a kid with a dragon trying to kill a guy to get a ring to save upper earth and the Habbits. so I think at age 15 puting together that many ideas and getting such a great product is no trivial accomplishment

I loved these books, and as they say, there are no new ideas under the sky, especially when they come to books. I mean, for a 15 year old to write such good books is amazing. If anybody says they are exactly like LOTR, yes there are some similar concepts, but just look at the fact that LOTR only has 1 book with a dragon, The Hobbit, and it doesn't really go too in depth about it.

he did copy some of the things in the books like the riders' connection to their dragons from The Dragon Riders of Pern only made it a little less intense,
but he didnt rip the lanuguage off of anything (kinda). He based the language off of Old Norse (look it up) like some of the words are the same. By the way, great series. I cant wait until Empire comes out. If any of you that are really into the Inheritance series, you may have noticed that each book name has 6 letters and starts with E.

PS the last book's name isnt decided yet. Im surprised I am ther first person to mention DRoP yet.

i read both of them in about three days back to back. i thought they were phenominal. i thought the first was better than the second, only because i kinda guessed (unfortunately, correctly) what would end up happening. i found them to be absolutely spellbinding. i cant wait for the next book (or movies), and i hope that the next book comes out soon, because i want to find out what ends up happening (although i have my guesses).
