I have a question about the Linksys WGA11B Wireless-B Game Adapter (shown here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AJVBW/sr=8-1/qid=1156792521/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-9681275-0987904?ie=UTF8 )
I'm getting this to connect to my Xbox for Xbox Live and I was wondering if it will be compatible with my wireless router (which is a D-Link 2.4gz Wireless Router).
From my understanding all you have to do is plug the Game Adapter into the Xbox and select "Infrastructure mode" on the LED screen. If this is all there is to it then I'm sold. If someone has one it would be greatly appreciated if they could help me out.
It's also one of the best deals I could find, $40 shipped in Canadian currency including taxes.
Thanks alot.

Hopefully. I don't know why it wouldn't work, but I'm just kind of unsure because it's online. I figure I might as well go for it though.

I don't like wireless period because the connect can drop and rise again which isn't fun when playing halo.

Yeah, but I don't really have a choice. My computer and router is downstairs and my Xbox is in my room (upstairs). I don't really feel like drilling holes in the floor/ceiling.

Im not trying to hijack the thread but I have a question too, thats almost the same. Im problably going to get the Xbox360 premium package. my computer has a DSL connection. How would I go about connnecting the ethernet connection cord, would it work?

you have to have a router and connect the cord from the router to your xbox

I have a wireless router that i bought for 100$ at EB games that i plug into my xbox 360 and it just picks up our wireless signal and it works great so i would suggest it and if it does not work you can always send it back

actually, you may have a problem. If you have a cordless phone in your house, it could interfere with the wireless. 2.4 GHz is a common frequency for cordless phones, so you need to check that.

Uh oh. I do have a 2.4gz cordless phone (I think 2 actually). But it doesn't interfere with the wireless internet my parents have on their laptop. Hopefully everything will work out.

Brandon, I use that for my PS2 and it works great. If you have any problems setting it up just call linksys. I called and they set it up perfectly.

the phones wont interfere, i have 1 in the same room as the xbo and another in the same room as the router. The linksys thing will work b/c it just picks up a 2.4 ghz signal, it doesnt matter if its not linksys

Oh yeah to ad one more thing I think the wireless G (g for game haha) is better than the B but more pricey.
The reason that one is so cheap is that it is an older model so I would suggest shelling out a little bit more dough for a more advanced one.
Yup, so hopefully your computer is in the same room as your Xbox.
So what can I do to connect the xbox to the internet if my computer isnt anywhere near the xbox? can I get the wireless adapter? Do I have ANY options?

You need a wireless system in your house in order for it to work......

What do you mean? I have a wireless router that my laptop connects to. Is that sufficient? It doesn't say anything about having to have a wireless "system" in the description.

O waite is this the one that attaches to your computer then another part attaches to your xbox? If its that kind your fine. I had a brain fart and was thinking of the wireless router that attaches to your xbox that leeches onto a wireless connection

I think it is that kind. Will it not work for some reason?

Its not that kind. Theres 1 sender and 1 receiver. The sender attaches to your computer and the receiver attaches to your xbox

I don't think so. It doesn't say that anywhere on the website.

well i have a 360 and got the core...so i have to get all the wireless and live package and stuff someone told me in my thread that if you have a wireless adapter it should pick i signal up
Is that even if you dont have wireless internet? Basically im wondering how I set this up if I dont have the XBOX in my computer room, and dont have wireless internet. we have DSL connection.

I think you have to have a ethernet cable in your case. It sucks, but I think it's the only way. Or you could buy an adapter where it comes with 2 adapters, 1 to hook up to your router and the other to hook up to your Xbox. Then it would connect wirelessly.
