You might want to wait until the rhinoskin pro comes out around mid october. That is if you want a little more protection. If you dont care then just get the regular rhinoskin.

The thing about rhinoskin, after useing it for 3 seasons, is that it doesn't vent very well. You get HOT. I also play in Texas, and late spring games get pretty toasty, so that may have something to do with it. But honestly the protection is just as good if not better than normal shoulderpads. I got the sleeveless version because I was told that the sleeves would bunch up under your armpits, causing discomfort, but I find the flapping shoulder caps annoying. They are good if you can deal with the heat though. Very low profile, and they dont hinder your movement in any way. Just PLEASE, for the love of god. Wash them....*pyew

ive heard rhinoskin should be tight on your body but I think a little looseness would help it vent

It's fit should be snug if you are wearing the size you would normally wear in a t-shirt. It won't be under armour snug, but a good fit. However after lots of use and washing it will loosen up (the foam padding, which is designed to breath as it's contructed from little foam beads) will also break up in certain places from use, but at the same time becomes more pliable.

It's like you're wearing nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all....

true but some people buy a size larger because sometimes, the pads would scrape you on the inside if you arent wearing a shirt, and sometimes, if you are :ahhno:

for middie i would totally recommend the brine spartan core sp's.

i have no opinion on rhinoskin 'cause i don't have it nor do in know anyone who does have it...just thought i let you know middie to middie ;)

(i use the brine spartan core and it has really good neck/collarbone/top of shoulder protection and a really strong chest plate, which is really all i need)

berger1227
09-01-2006, 04:59 PM

(sorry to hijak this)
I was thinking about spartans but then I saw the rhinoskins and was torn. Do the spartans ride up at all? cause with some shoulder pads I have that problem where they ride up and feel really uncomfortable. What I want in a shoulder pad is tight fitting, so they dont slide around, decent protection, (as long as there's something there) high mobility, and nothing bulky. I HATE stuff like the warrior MPGs because they are just horrendous in my opinion. Which do you think fits the criteria better; the spartans or the rhinoskin
