Hey everybody loves ESPN I mean the games in HD are great but there arent any lax games in HD, but they seriously cant cover the action well.

They try to hard to cover the games like football. Football is a much slower sport, the ball doesnt travel half as fast, so they are always trying to do these pretty close in shots and then miss the action they should take a cue from CSTV and use more wide angle and medium shots, its close enough to see good and you dont miss the action.

Now if we chould only get them to tele more games, CSTV is chock full of college games but ESPN? Ya gotta pray to the lax gods for a game.

Plus why is it when there is a perfectly good lax game on there is bass fishing on.

No offense to the guys who like bass fishing but there are probably on the bassfishingforums any way so..... I might watch bass fishing if the guys got drunk and like had accidents.....not nice but its way boring right now

So ESPN stop trying to be so pretty and cover the games better, teach your camera men and producers that close in shots are for cheerleading comps and not lacrosse. And tele more games. please.... and how about more info on lacrosse instead of sportscenter repeating every ten minutes with the same stuff.

CSTV has done a better job at covering lacrosse. ESPN just covers the championship, i dont count MLL. :agree:

Playing poker is fun, but who wants to watch someone else play it? I guess enough people do, or they wouldn't have it on TV, but poker on TV sucks.

Facts:
-It's an approximately equal number who watch poker or lacrosse on TV (i.e. the same level of crappy ratings)

-Lacrosse - obscure, many cameras needed, sharp and fast director needed, knowlegable play-by-play and colour commentator needed (Leif Elsmo doesn't count).

-Poker - common, slow, only a couple cameras needed, director can be half asleep....

-If no one is watching anyway, a sports event with lower production costs wins.

Poker sucks to watch, but it probably makes as much revenue as laX and costs a pittance. That my friends, is why Sports TV is full of poker and not lacrosse.

the man is 100% right it comes down to the cost to get the thing on the air, its also why your TV is full of reality shows. they cost nothing to put on, and if a particular participant (i wont demean actors by calling them that) demands more money? they are gone from the show.
try doing that to one of the clowns on friends...

I hear what you guys are saying but the best ways to get people to like lacrosse and becomes fans of the sport is to get it on the tube.... like the say its the fastest growing sport in america..... it has to get pushed more..... but as i recall I originally compared it to bass fishing, not poker, but i also if poker gets so much time how but lacrosse... but you dont need many camers for lacrosse, they have like maybe 3 at the most at college games.. not alot need

I'd like you to rethink that camera thing again. You wanna know how they know who has what cards? A camera. And how many people are at a table? Probally around 8. Then you have the guys walking around, and the ceiling mounted cameras. It all adds up to about the same.

All I can say is.... the NCAA finals in HDTV were pretty nice. I recorded it on my DVR, and watched a few times. Looks awesome in HD, on 720p setting.

I have tried to watch the MLL games lately, and can't see the ball.

LAX needs to be in HDTV.

Unfortunately, it will not be anytime soon that we see more LAX games in HD. As things are now, most cable companies can't even add more HDTV channels because the cable wires that feed your home can't handle the bandwidth but for a few HD channels.

hmm ive only seen clips and such online of CSTV but that compared to the NCAA games of have of lax championships i'd definitely go with CSTV although ESPN does try and have better quality

but yea i wish they'd take all the stupid stuff like poker, bass fishing off and put on some lax but maybe leave on the occasional Trick shots in pool cuz thats just crazy
