I wanna ask questions about Crease slide.
1. If the oppoent team does not assign a crease man, then there would not be a crease D and where should the crease slide begins with?
2. and in the case of adjcent slide, your teammate will slide from your right or left side, so in the case of crease slide, would your teammate just look after his man and will not offer you any help?
3. I mean your teammate will not move a fit closer to you so that your opponents would not dare to dodge you? ( That means you have to face your man directly?)

A good rule of thumb would be to use an adjacent slide when there is only one or no guys on the crease or when there is 2 guys on the crease (close 2-2-2 or 1-4-1). Also remember that when you slide from the crease you can cut off the adjacents. When you slide from adjacents you need to back off of the guy and slough towards the ball.
Also, the second slide is usually the problem, not the first one. Ideally when sliding through the crease the second slide will already be in that area, usually behind (at that point) the crease man. In most basic slide packages you'll have the backside man covering two until the beaten guy goes to cover one of 'em on the backslide. When the beaten player recovers, he should recover through the crease to check to make sure the creaseman is covered.

when the crease is open, and you go to adjacents, then, your slides will come from the direction of the dodge. let's say you are covering ball. joe has your left, and bob has your right. two thoughts: one, force your opponent to his weak hand if you know which it is. two, you can take him to your stronger defensive adjacent slide. either way, you want joe and bob to show they are looking to slide. they do this by opening up their stance toward the ball carrier a bit more than they normally would. the whole time, they are looking to their adjacents to cover their slide (gary and jerry, respectively). The slides rotate towards the direction of the ball, the beaten player moves to the crease to find the open opponent.
i hope this helps, good luck.

Great explanation... I don't think you can get any clearer then that on the slide package.... The reason why the adjacents show slide is to keep the "hot" midfielder guessing on whether to dodge or not. If he tries to have "bob" or "joe" back doored with a cut "Jerry" or "gary" should be there to put a body on that adjacent cutting or to pick the pass. If You shut adjacents and have "Terry" sliding ( crease slide with an empty crease) Gary and Jerry have to hold pipe and make sure none of the attackmen read the slide and try to get a feed on the doorstep.....

That works great if there is no one on the crease but how often do you see that? The other part that is incorrect is you should not be sliding up field. The ball will move faster that any player can move so sit, and split the two but don't slide up feild. If the crease is open you are better off playing a backer extended zone pinching at the pipes.

you are right NHlax about sliding up field, if the offense moves the ball quick, the slides are too distant to be effective in that regard. I was illustrating the defense assignment based on the situation given, as laxlover8 was asking about an open-crease slide-package.
I have come across several open crease offenses, so it is good to have an idea of what to consider when in that situtation.
