what do u do to read a defense?

You look at them with your eyes, and watch who they slide to and whether they are using a zone defence or a man on man defence.

The most important thing is to look at how he shufffles his feet. If he shuffles and jumps when he does it a good fast attsckmen can easily burn him. And if he pushes at your shoulder duck down a little bit

It can be hard to see if you just watch the ball. If you have an assistant coach (preferably the defensive assistant, if you have one), have him watch the other team's defense and focus on the slides. If you don't have an assistant, have one of the bench players or one of your defensemen watch.

Or you can just hear the defense yell who's the first slide is going to be....
