Does anyone know who won the various VLA awards? Typically they have not been published anywhere on the LV website.

Cheers

Daniel Stiglich from Eltham won the State League B&F

I Believe Bozzie from Malvern came 2nd in the votes for SL and Cockey from Camberwell came 3rd.

I heard an Altona player came 1st in Div 1 but I'm not sure who. Anyone know?

This is what Altona LC posted on the lacrosse vic website to attract 2007 coaching applications. Perhaps these are some of the reasons Altona LC won the award.

In the past two years our number of teams has doubled. In 2006 we have been recognised as a Victorian finalist in injury prevention by Sports Medicine Australia and have gained accreditation for responsible alcohol policies through Good Sports. We held the men's preliminary finals and will be holding the U15 National Boys & Girls Tournament 2006.

You can have all the pieces of paper and certifications in the world, but when you have a club full of meat-axes, who drink beer and smoke cigarettes at half time, punch on during most games, you really need to ask what the hell they base this judgement on. It's embarrassing. Have you ever spent an hour in the clubhouse and observed the goings on (particularly behind the bar). Feral.....!!

The only reason they get the finals is b/c they have 4 fields at the one venue, not b/c of their event management capabilities.

Keep up the work...its been boring without your posts!!

On a serious note are Altona going to s/l next year...I heard a comment on Grandfinal day that there players were to watch the S/L game to see where they should be at for next year!

Hey Snake - not sure were you got your info but I heard it was for these reasons!!!

In the past two years our number of penalties has doubled. In 2006 we have been
recognised as a Victorian finalist of injury contribution by Sports Medicine Australia and have gained a great reputation for irresponsible alcohol policies through Cheap Spirits. We held a drinking competition during preliminary finals and will be holding the same competition for U15 Boys & Girls Tournament in 2006.

I think Altona may have got it on the grounds that both of their teams made the GF. And some improvement in juniors??

Other than that I should have thought Melbourne High deserved it. From 0 to 5 teams in 5 years.

Junior Program at altona. They come to the game telling all their team mates how much they drank the night before and how they kicked the crap out of these people and how they ran away from the cops. And always yelling at each other.

Wow great junior program i think.

Don't know about this year but in recent years thier junior program has leeched off Footscray's as they (Altona) didn't have enough to form thier own teams.

Not sure if its considered the Brownlow for Lax but there is the Isaachsen Trophy.

Isaachsen Trophy is awarded to the best player in Australia competing in State Championships. Votes are cast by referees in the highest-level competition in each State and are 'evened out' to allow for a different number of games played in various States.

Previous winner are listed here:

Anyone know who won it for 2006?????

Anybody from Altona want to attempt to make a case for your club? It's really copping it from all angles.

And on the VLA awards..did anybody go? Any commentary/opinions on it? Was it a big success?

Wayne Curran from WA could be up there, he won the D1 F+B by seven votes from a quality field this year, so he's definitely a possibility.
