I don't so much drive it as the "bus driver" does, infact I never have, but I ride in it every morning and after soccer/lacrosse practice.
My brother passed his road test though in August and he turns 17 in December, so until then we will roll with the bus driver. We will most likely share a car and I don't know what we will get.

Cute, only its not true.
You cant chip your car to go much faster without absolutely killing the engine. Especially on a Malibu. You wouldnt get 10 horsepower out of it without screwing over your engine life.
LM32, im sure you know this, im just es'plainin.....
All a chip does is controls the air to fuel ratio... (atleast what most people think of as a chip.. unless you do a complete ECU swap) You can increase the amount of air in that ratio which will give you better gas mileage and a few more HP, the problem is that people change the ratio to an unsafe rate, which will give you about 10 - 15 more horses, but will kill your engine because it doesnt get enough fuel. You also SHOULD (AKA highly recomended if you dont want to kill your engine) use 93 octane fuel if you have a chipped car. Because it burns at a higher tempeture.. thus helping your engine which wont be getting as much fuel to maintain its "natural" balance.
Oh, and if you drive an automatic, then your not a real person.

I can't drive yet, but I will 100% positive, be driving a 92 Range Rover Classic with over 150,000 miles on it. Surprisingly the engine is still running good, but its just everything else that is falling apart (crappy British electronics, seats, pretty much the whole interior). I laugh at people who say I'm rich because we drive a Range Rover.

A chip could make your car signifigantly faster...
If you had air intake and exhaust
What it really does is make it more effcient and regulate the air and fuel ratios better than the stock chip.
That and it gets rid over the governer.

I read an interesting article recently about what some of the richest men in the world drive. You'd be surprised...
Top 10 Vehicles Owned by Billionaires (http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/toptens/billionaire2006/01-billionaires.html?partner=bill_cars_promo) published by Forbes.
The trend seems to be that cars are much less of status items to the mega-rich. Of course, a lot of these guys own their own jets, yachts, islands, etc, so... When you're that wealthy, you can leave it to the mere millionaires to show off their pimpin' rides.
Best on that list is Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA. He's rockin' a 1993 Volvo 240GL wagon when he's not using public transportation. Mad props to him!

I have decided that no matter how much money I make i will own a ferrari.
I drive a '96 Honda Accord. Or maybe it's a '93 Honda Accord. It's definitely a Honda Accord though. I bought it from my neighbors. They said it had a sweet stereo that can play iPods, but really it just randomly plays songs and you have no control over which songs it plays.

I got my mom's old car. a 2000 White Nissan Maxima. The weird thing is, before I got it, the license plate was customized- and had my name on it. I don't know why, maybe my Mom just loves me, who knows. But now when i go to school, everyone knows which car is mine.

Me and my buddies are all getting our good license (G2) all around the same time. So we're rolling our "Shaggin' Wagon". Black and white interior, black light, strobe light facing the driver, skull on the gear shift, water bead and a wizard air brushed on the side.
(BTW its a 94 dodge caravan (i think)).
At least thats the aim.

i was lucky enough for my grandfather to buy me a new car and after about a year of research i ended up with the car i never really thought i was gonna get. A 07 Nissan Altima sedan i love the car soo much got it about 2 weeks ago and did not expect getting it, we went to the honda dealer and i was gonna get a civic si but the dealer completely screwed with us and basically lied to us more than once. we got fed up and left, i was looking at a nissan altima coupe but there was a 1,000 premium for it so i got the 4 door, i got it base with nothing fancy in it. i could not have wished for a better car only thing i would change is that i got the real rims and not the hub caps but i could always get a sweet pair of rims eventually.

My brothers liked to drive it a lot, consequently, it has a huge dent in the side. It's not even here now, my brother took it back to college with him because he screwed his car up. It's still cool though.
And there's no actual key, just a little black panel that has lock, unlock, alarm, trunk, and it has some chip that the car recognizes and allows you to start the car with the key in your pocket by just pushing a button. Then the car starts up and the seat and steering wheel comes out, down, etc.. It looks so sick at night with the GPS and neon blue/red/white console and dashboard.
And the G35 was purchased over the G37 mainly because of price. The G37 would have costed like $10,000 more if it had all the options that were put on the G35 (I think).

Oy. I got white on black. Black on black seems like it would be too hot. I just got 2 new subs, and it BUMPS with the stock sound system, which is already pretty nice. Chrome 20's here :yumyum: . Hows the push button ignition? That seems sick.
Every time I get into the drivers seat the steering wheel and seat adjusts to the settings that you "program" into the key so it feels like you are in a fighter plane about to take off. Probably my favorite part about the G35. It feels SO BA hopping in and hearing the low buzz of everything adjusting to you.

If you get a bike, be careful. When I bought my Gixxer 600 I thought I was so tough and that a 600 wasn't big enough..that bike is way too fast for my own good.
As for the cars, I would say you can't go wrong with any of them. The Mustang GT being more about throw you back in the seat raw power, while the A4 and BMW 128i are both more luxurious (better features, gas mileage, and probably more "comfortable" to drive. The 300C Hemi is a good mixture of that power and comfort, but anytime you are going to spend that much money on a car, you definitely have to go drive them all before you decide.

Right now im leaning toward the Audi A4, but i love Mustangs and I've always wanted one, but it will probaly be about a year and a half before i buy the car.

Well i've been saving up for a real long time and have about $15,000 saved up, about $5000 in bonds and some people owe me about $2000 and i just signed my name over to the Marines, so i'll have even more money coming my way and plan on getting a new car in about a year and i cant decide what i want but i've narrowed it down.
Chrysler 300C
Audi A4
BMW 128i
Ford Mustang GT Coupe
I dont know which one to get though, anybody know anything about these cars, other than the mustang?
Or i may just get a crotch rocket depending on where i get stationed
What I know about these cars....
BMW-
All I want to say is E46 M3; can almost guarantee you will be more content. Any BMW you buy will make you happy though, but it takes a minute to get use to how sporty they are, there's a reason they call it a driving machine and 'A Driver's Car.' I've driven the 3's 5's and X's, but I've only looked at the 1 series hatchbacks, and would say they didn't knock me over with their appearance. The dealers are great to work with, extremely friendly and take care of all your problems, but this car probably won't match the build quality of the Audi, though it will always fetch a good resale price and feels much nicer both to drive and sit in.
If you plan to spend as much money as you imply, skip the A4 and get an S4, unless you are bent on getting a brand new car. Really though, it's all about what you want from your car. I've only ridden in one of these, never drove it, but for being at the 'bottom' of the Audi totem pole, it's just as gorgeous inside as it is outside. Plus Audi's owned by VW, so you never really have to worry about anything going wrong with it. Now if only it had a VR6.....
The Chrysler is really too sedate for anyone below 35, in my humble opinion, unless you're going for a stereotypical look and can't afford a Benz, which is the reason it was made. Honestly I just don't really support anyone your age getting that car, it's nice, but it's a grandpa's car.
If you're headed for the marines, I'd stick with a bike. It'll be easier to move it around and cost you less all around, unless of course you're somewhere where it snows. Where I'm at I've seen scooters out on the road when half the cars are wearing tire chains, that takes some balls, so I guess it's possible. CBR600RR, and don't look back.
and FYI
The mustang only has 3 valves per cylinder and lacks independent rear suspension, which basically makes the LSD a pretty accessory. It's nice until you take a quick turn in it....

Oy. I got white on black. Black on black seems like it would be too hot. I just got 2 new subs, and it BUMPS with the stock sound system, which is already pretty nice. Chrome 20's here :yumyum: . Hows the push button ignition? That seems sick.
Probably my favorite part about the G35. It feels SO BA hopping in and hearing the low buzz of everything adjusting to you.
The push button ignition is pretty sweet (pretty much because I've never driven a car with it before). It's nothing groundbreaking but I sure get a kick out of it every once and awhile.
And yeah the sound of the engine purring whilst the entire "cockpit" adjusts to you is pretty unbelievable.

To you two with Durangos, how do you like the interior? Like, how big is the cargo area, how comfortable are people in the back seats, etc. I've never ridden in one, but you can find some good deals on Durangos even 2000 and up and if i can get my parents to budge on their under $5000 thing, they look pretty nice. My Dad has an 06 Ram 1500, and I really like the way it drives and handles, even being so big.

Like the speed of light, that's not just a good idea, it will be the law where you're headed.
IIRC, about twenty-five years ago, in response to a rash of motorcycle wrecks, the Air Force put its patent leather shoe down and declared that no one would operate a motorcycle on any of its bases unless he had passed the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (http://www.msf-usa.org/) course. I believe that policy is in effect servicewide. Here's an example of what to expect: (http://www.warren.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123046699)

90th Space Wing Safety Office
3/29/2007 - F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- As the weather starts to turn warmer, all military members need to be aware of the mandatory training and personal protective requirements for motorcycles including all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and street cycles.
....
Commanders and supervisors must interview each person in their squadron and determine if they are riding a motorcycle in accordance with the wing commander's policy.
Some members may be tempted to join a "riders underground" where they store or stash their motorcycles at an off-base location and only ride downtown. Supervisors and commanders at all levels must ensure that riders are aware and comply with all training and PPE requirements as well as be alert for high-risk riders. Every squadron has a motorcycle safety representative who is the focal point for any motorcycle questions.
The Air Force mandates drivers training for all personnel prior to riding a street motorcycle. There is no waiver if you have signed up for the class.
Motorcycle safety foundation training is required for all military members riding street bikes on or off base and on or off duty and all Air Force civilians riding street bikes on base and off base as part of their duties. MSF training is optional but highly encouraged for off duty Air Force civilians, dependents over 18 years old, contractors and retirees.
The first course to take before purchasing a bike or riding one is the motorcycle safety foundation basic rider's course. The 90th Space Wing ground safety office will pay for military, civilian employees and dependents to attend BRC training.

Well my brother is stationed at Miramar in San Diego and when he gets back from Iraq hes getting a bike, so hes already told me about all the requirements, i know that you have to wear a helmet no matter where you ride if you're in the military but i planned on doing that anyways. I want to get a bike, but there are too many stupid drivers, especially in CA. But if i do get one, im not gonna be doing anything stupid on it, im a little girl when it comes to stuff like that.

Excellent policy. There will be tons of secondhand bikes available at any given military base. Bargains galore. People buy them only to find they can't make the payments or have lost interest.

The very back row, can seat 2, fairly well, and the middle row can seat 3 very comftorably. If you don't need the last row, then you have an insane amount of cargo room. With that seat up you can fit more than everything you need for an everyday trip. I love mine.

Twin58- Do you know if Buell makes good bikes?
I'm sorry, but I wouldn't know. I haven't even looked at a bike magazine in, probably, a year. Usually, Cycle World has a "ten best" list every year that is helpful. I have found that the best articles are of the "bargain blaster" sort. That is, they take 400cc, 500cc, and 600cc bikes from several manufacturers and run an article comparing them.
For example, take a look at the section of the Ninja 500R Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ninja_500R) called Comparative and Individual Reviews (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ninja_500R#Comparative_and_Individual_Rev iews). (Full disclosure: I contributed that part of the page.)
In April 1994, in an article titled "Bargain Hunters," Cycle World compared the then-new Ninja 500 to the Suzuki GS500E, the Suzuki Katana 600, the Yamaha FZR600, and the Yamaha Seca II. Cycle World concluded of the EX500, "it's our pick as the best overall deal in this group," though each bike had its virtues.
That's kind of old anymore, but if you sit down at the library, you can find newer articles in which the bikes you would be looking at are compared.
I keep a mental inventory of bikes I'd be interested in owning. I'm not reading the classified ads constantly or hitting Craigslist every day, but if, say, I went to a yard sale, and I saw a bike of interest sitting unused in a garage, I'd ask about it. If you walk around, you'd be surprised how many unused bikes there are out there. I know of an early 70s Honda CB750 that has been sitting in the same spot for ages. It's not something I want to bother with, but one of these days, someone is going to ask about it.

If you don't know too much about bikes, I suggest you look for something other than a liter bike for your first one. The majority of my motorcycle knowledge is based around Japanese brands and Aprilia.

I suggest the RX-7, It would have a little less power, but the engine is half the size and weight and runs a lot smoother to boot.
