my sister just came to me asking about topics for her college application essay for one of her advanced comp. class.

she is really out of ideas, so maybe you guys can post what you wrote yours on...or what you are going to write about.

Im writing mine about a book, Ishmael, and how it changed my life—or I have to make the admissions peeps beleive it changed my life.

My other college essays are specific questions like "What do you expect your academic journey to entail at [blank]"

or at Colorado College their essay is writing an essay on what your class would be if you could design your own class—pretty cool essay topic

i wrote mine about the time I stepped over my boundaries as captain of the team and pegged a kid in his injured knee with a pass because he had come late and refused to run laps, therefore prompting him to start swearing at me across the entire gym and yelling that if it were up to him, i would never have been captain. oops. Seriously having to write seperate essays and fill out seperate paperwork for each college other than commonapp ones were a pain.

I never got to choose what kind of essay to write, I always had to write on given topics.

well, they give you a bunch of topics if your using the common app, and even though there is a "chose your own topic" question, colleges prefer you use one of the ones provided.

i submitted more than one essay. It was pretty easy actually, since I just chose 3 or 4 of the best papers i ever wrote and tweeked those a bit. Since she's in advanced comp, she has probably written loads of papers, just choose 4 of the best ones and submit those

There's a good chance given the school that's for. But yeah, I wouldn't send that someplace like NYU or any other liberal school.

I dont actually remember writing a college essay... especially for the school I go to now, they didnt even require SATs... hmm...

I believe our teams going there Sunday for some little lax tournament, with UNH and St A's... Wont see much of the school buts its a good start to see if I will want to go there... or see if its too big...
