Well it's AFL and NRL Grand Final weekend here in Aus, what are your hopes and predictions?

Saturday:
AFL - West Coast Eagles vs Sydney Swans
Same teams as last year, then I went for the Swans to break the longest drought in footy, but this year I really couldn't care less about the result. I'm tipping the Eagles in a close one.

Sunday:
NRL - Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos
I hope the storm can bring it back to Victoria, and I think it will happen, we finished 4 games clear on the top of the ladder with the 2nd most dominant season ever seen in Rugby League, and we won some close games so the team should be able to handle the nerves. Can't wait.

Mate,

These are the two Major Types of Professional football in Australia.

the AFL (Australian Football League) is the sport that keeps Lacrosse a minor sport here! It's the biggest spectator sport in Australia(especially in Victoria, South Aus. and West Aus.)

the NRL(National Rugby League) is a psychotic game that makes American Footballers look like sally's....except for a few different rules it is gridiron with no pads. (popular mainly in Sydney and Brisbane)

Warriors spits the truth! a draw would be awesome...though dont they play extra time now?

whistleblower

Not for a grandfinal...Extra time is only for a semi or a premlim final

Boys 15 points eitherway @ $2.85 is they way to go...last 7 games have all been decided by less than a goal for Swans and Eagles.

National Rugby League www.nrl.com

Australian Football League www.afl.com.au

Yep the Grand Final is the championship game.

They are like our Superbowls, in half the country it's the AFL, in the other half it's the NRL.

i'm barracking for swannys for my mate plus they at least have victorian roots, that aside i'd be putting my money on the eagles.
Of course i'm barracking for the storm even though my uncle has sent me down all this brisbane junk. Storm will do it easy.

Not really, if we didn't want it to be a national comp we would have kept it as the VFL.

I am mad Essendon isn't in with a chance, but aside from that whether the finalists are Victorian or not doesn't bother me.

Dammit!!!!!!!

Storm lost

The worst part is it was the result of bad refereeing, even the video ref made a blatant mistake.

definantly, i tuned in with a half to go to see the bad decisions made such as matt kings try after a high kick, which was hit into a storm players head and down to matt king for the try.
But congratulations to the broncos and all their supporters.

Yea...I dont really get the game...like why do you get a chance to score even more points after a try through a kick? I'm going to take the easy way and blame the refs on storms loss! Haha Good game none-the-less! Catch Guys

I just can't get into rugby as a spectator sport. It seems to me to enjoy it you have to have grown up with it or have a degree in the rules. AFL is so much easier to just sit and watch if you don't care about the results. Of course i love watching the wallabies...

I'm sure the American Football fans on here get the concept.

And it sure as hell makes more sense than getting a point for missing (AFL).

Not really, I never grew up with it but now I enjoy it much more than AFL.

Likewise my brother grew up in Vic but moved to Queensland, and my dad same but moved to NSW both have got into Rugby League (but still prefer AFL).

The rules are pretty simple to pick up, for League at least, union is more complicated.

It's as much an injustice as Australia losing to Italy in the FIFA World Cup, maybe even more.

i dont give a rats about rugby - but the storm got the spicy end of the ref's chilli stick thats for sure. and as for the swans going down by 1...plenty of good teams lose grand finals by 1...i'm still bleeding
