I've been taking faceoffs for a while now and I love it.. not to brag but Im pretty good at it too, at faceoffs I'll win 9/10 times and Ive been starting Face-off guy on everyteam Ive been on (and camp teams but that doesnt really matter). Although I like taking face offs (probably cause Im good at them) I like staying on the field whether I win or lose the face and thats what the coaches let me do. My favorite part of middie (apart from face offs) is definetly playing defense on the other middies so now straight to my question: Since Im entering highschool next year.. if I were to play would the probabilities of me being a fogo be high? Because as much as I love taking face offs, I'd hate to be a fogo. Is there any chance that I could take face offs and stay on the field for college and highschool or should I just look into taking a different position for next year?

It really depends. Most coaches will let you stay on if your good enough. The way my team does it is I do all the faceoffs for all the middie lines, but I only stay on to play offense and defense with the first line. I fogo for the others.

I think you would stay on the field if you were in college if you were pretty good at offense. Why sub of a FOGO when he can play good offense

Well, If you are a good middie and a good face off man, I would imagine you would stay on the field, unless there are three middies better than you on your team.

Yeah, if you are good enough to play middie and you are good enough to be a FOGO, why wouldn't the coach let you stay on the field? Unless your coach is worried about you getting hurt or something, then I think you'll be fine taking face-offs and staying on the field as long as you're the best face-off man and you are a pretty good middie.

Well it depends on the capabilities of the other midfielders on your team. If they are all absolute studs on both sides of the field, you'll probably be a fogo. If you can play just as good as them, you'll probably stay on.

Ok man, I am gonna be a fogo in college, and I play normal middie on my high school team. If you love playing defense and other stuff, don't give it up. Tell your coach you take faceoffs, and he'll designate you as one of those who can take them, and then show him what you can do on the field. Baiscally just do what you want.
