yeah they wont break to easy, and you can do serious damage with em only downside is they are heavy. i know this all because my friend has 2 broken arrows which i am always on the recieving end of.

yea there is a few new companies that are selling wooden shafts. i don't know if they have d poles yet, but they are hollow and have a carbon fiber inside so they are lighter and stronger

yea it hurts but i didnt find them too heavy for certain ones. I saw one that a college player let me use and it was amazing. They used to be sold on ebay with some guy making them. It is called the The Orto Stick. I find it really nice.

talon shafts arent even really woodies from what i understand, they are almost completely carbon fiber with a thin wood laminate on the top.

i may disagree with you, if you wind up and hit for example someones arm in the middle of your shaft, i think it will snap.

There isn't a warranty on most of these sites that sell these hickory shafts, so don't be too crazy with the lumber.

yea but its only 20 bucks...not a huge deal...i mean i wouldnt want to lose 20 bucks but its not like the warrior titaniums that cost like $200 and no warranty

Yeah but take into consideration that your woody was made from plywood....no way that is happening with a solid piece of hickory.

i bought a hickory d pole last season and it is amazing. At first i was sceptical about it's strength but at practice some one wound up and check it right in the middle and it dented their stick. In a game i made a kid walk off the field because i legally check him where he had no pads. and also, i'm not the strongest guy but it is not super heavy.
I bought mine from:
www.hickorylax.com
after a lot of searching, i figured that they were the best.
feel free to pm me if you have any questions

Go to www.chillysticks.com Real nice, i got once a couple months ago. Pretty heavy though. They're hickory. Around $24.95 for a D-length. Ships in about 10 days. They have a bigger circumfrence then a normal shaft the whole shaft being about the width of a howizter, or if youy're not familar with that, about an 1 and 18th of an inch. The top is a little thinner for the head though, its real nice. It has very defined edges. like ifi you're barehanded you can really feel it sliding through yoru hand if you twist it. I have no idea how much it weighs...I'm 5' 4" and can play perfectly with it.

I correct myself, they are made of Ash, so a little weaker and lighter, but stiill beastly

hmm my 15 year old Crooked Arrow is still in one piece. A bit heavy but when it comes to layin' lumber... Let's just say that you know you've been checked. STX used to market em. Mine is a three piece laminate, hickory and some exotic from Africa if I recall. Has an STX Dominator head on it for old school sake. Woodies rock, but plan on using well placed and timed checks, cause it can be tough to get em off in rapid sucession Of course the up side is that you will throw more good checks and will not gain a rep as a hack.

i dint think so but you could wear sun glasses...that way you can play in style w/ a Woodie and sun glasses and not look like you are wearing a retard helmet

In most cases they 're illegal. Search through the officiating forum for applicable threads.

sunglasses are also illegal, and only clear visors are legal.

How does a woody pole compare in weight to an average Dpole such as a platinum alloy?

check ebay or Red Devil Lax or Hickory Lax this topic has come up a lot so try search yes they are heavier and hickory is just about the best kind of wood you can get for the price and its density and if not hickory go with oak

If weight wasn't a big issue, you could try putting a thin layer of fibreglass so it would be harder to snap or crack, or you could carbon fibre one if you had the money
