Does anybody know a link where it tells you how to make your own wood shafts? Im just wondering because my dad got a new table saw and he has leftover pieces of wood I could use.

Get your piece of wood stock, cut it to 1 1/16''x15/16''x32'' long. Set table saw to 43 degrees. cut with the longer side vertical. Always make your angled cut with the 1 1/16'' facing upwards. Theres your super short tut.!

and then sand , stain, and finish you could also check hackstall's thread or PM him im pretty sure hes in the process of making a tutorial

Cut the extra lines off. so you have an octogon shape.

Theres no key that goes up to the top. I was trying to represent the octogon shape lol...


How would I finish it off though? make it smooth/colorful

heres hackstalls thread http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=60206 and right now im using a Minwax stainer thats the brand and i got a rosewood color because i couldnt find any redwood stain, but to make the edges and stuff smooth use a 220 grain sand paper, and then im pretty sure you finish it with polyurethane
