Goalie custom stringing help

Ok I know that when you are stringing a custom pocket you use the ball + knife to keep the center leathers at the right depth. Well I'm trying to string a goalie custom and can’t think of a deeper equivalent to the ball + knife that will last a long time so I can string the center. Any ideas preferably one that does not require me to part with a ton of tape i.e. taping balls together.

Use a: Basketball, Volleyball, Bowling ball, soccer ball, etc...

I used a size 3 soccer ball. Not sure what Kryptic used, might have been a 4. Anyways, a soccer ball will work. I used some random things and some duck tape to keep it where I wanted.

looking back the only thing i can think about with a soccer ball is you wouldnt have much of a channel in the pocket. but i cant think of anything to get around that. one idea ive been toying with is get a bunch of playdoh or an equivilant and string yourself or have someone else string a mesh pocket with a really nice channel and then take the playdoh and make a mold of the pocket. then you could string around that. then again that could get complicated so stick with the ball
