I wonder how Yeatman is going to do if he gets to play.

The Machine will dominate. It doesn't matter that they were the worst team in the MLL, it's still a team composed of some of the best players in the world.

My prediction: The Machine by at least six.

I was going to say Machine by 10

Yeah so was I, but I didn't want to say they'd win by too much and then have them win by like three. But whatever the score, there will be a wide gap, and Chicago will come out on top. No question.

When/where is the scrimmage?

FIRST MACHINE WIN?!?!? haha who knows. i think the machine but it might be close if notre dame really pushes hard.

10-05-2006, 08:18 PM
hmm notre dame seems pretty good this year i saw there blue gold scrimmage they got some good players the only downfall are there face-offs they need a little work there
I say its gonna be close

laxn
10-05-2006, 09:10 PM
No where near close, although this isnt a legit game, the MLL guys are competetive enough to make sure they dont lose

berger1227
10-05-2006, 09:59 PM
you forget...MLL guys are PROS

notre dame some guys might end up in the MLL but not the whole team

while i want the irish to win i dont think they will

mattlax743
10-05-2006, 10:27 PM
probably machine. irish guys might be a bit more conditioned, BECAUSE, they are still in college and can focus there time on working out and all that, unlike the pros with there is a side job.

and yeatmen will most likely not play. notre dame football season, so hes busy losing games/barely beating low level teams on that over rated football team.

devillax57
10-05-2006, 11:20 PM
the machine will win, but its not going to be an absolute blowout. ND practices all the time, while pro teams rarely ever practice. I still take Machine by 4 though.

Another point...what rules are they going to use?

GBSLax25
10-06-2006, 06:38 AM
Machine will probably win because of dominance on faceoffs. Shanahan will win around 68 % of the faceoffs on Sunday

fenwicklax89

i think im goin. i heard some non-machine players from the mll might be playing to fill in for gaps in the machine's roster due to players not being able to make it

u cant compare...machine will win its 2 different leauges u cant even compare.its like putting a highschool team up against a college team.

No contest. Shanahan will suck up the ball like it's his job (and it is).

10-07-2006, 05:20 PM
well...and the fact that Streibel, Kyle Dixon, and Matt Ward will be out playing with the machine this weekend. That will definately be sick to see.

If they kept that up till the end then thats crazy. That'll be a big moral booster for ND and a huge embarressment to Chicago. Did Yeatman get some playing time and if he did then how did he do?

Etownlaxplaya

The Game was crazy. they gave out free lacrosse balls.. and some player thew out shafts and stuff. They didnt keep a running score on the board so it was hard to tell who won.. but it was most probaly ND since they had 4 or 5 quick goals in the 3 quarter... but what was the deal with chicago haveing other players from differnt teams playing with them?

hcDevils391

it was ND my dad kept score, it was like 17 or 18 to 9 pretty much a blowout. also in the first half there was almost a fight. 2 machine players were beating up on this ND pole then a nother ND player steped in, but it happend in like 5 seconds, still cool

Pro teams have lost to D1 teams, its more of the fact that the D1 teams have been conditioning and playing as a unit and its really just a scrimmage for fun.
LaxMiddie32 got it right. ND has scrimmaged MLL squads the past few preseasons and ND ALWAYS wins, usually in a blowout. Here's a recap of the 2003 scrimmage with pics (ND win 15-9): Lax.com (http://www.lax.com/stories/1004). I was actually at that 2003 scrimmage in person. ND was winning by like 9 goals going into the 4th quarter but the MLL players scored some late ones to make the final score closer.

ND was just faster (team-wise), better conditioned, and had obviously practiced more as a team. The MLL players, while they might be better individually, didn't have the speed or set plays that a good team like ND did.

I thought Yeatman was gonna play only lacrosse for his freshman year and start playing football in his sophmore year.

I think it will be good for Notre Dame beacause when they go to play other college teams they will some off of playing against a MLL team...I dont think that the score will really have an affect on the players either

hcDevils391

well there was some kid playing with the same helmet that yeatman had on in magazines and stuff, but i thought he did look a little small for a football player, maybe some other kid

Yeatman's already seen the football field. They called his name in the ND-Penn State football game and the ND-Stanford game this past weekend.

I remember when the Miami Hurricanes beat the Florida Marlins in an exhibiton game. So I guess it happens.

the answer is simple. the Machine guys were staying to the classic MLL "one person does all the work" attitude. with the additions of guys like striebel, dixon, and ward, all of whom have never played with the machine guys, the situation remained. also, that was the "kickoff" of the machine's offseason work, whereas ND had come into this with 2 months of practice/conditioning under their belts. also corrigan was riding his players pretty hard to play at the top of their game, and the ND guys were pumped to play those big names in the MLL. all in all, it was a fun game to attend and watch.

plus matt ward gave me his razer pro with the UVA cali connection in it

ND Played hard and well. Machine players played like they just came back from vacation. They all have real jobs and it would be unrealistic to expect them to pick up their sticks like it was August.

I watched the entire game and don't agree with some of the score spreads. I think ND won, but the Machine definately had more than 9 goals. I suspect the differential was about 3 goals, with each having between 18-25. ND conditioning and team work was apparent, especially on defense. Yeatman was not there due to football.

Overall, it was a great time. 5 stars to the Machine players, visiting MLL players, and ND for playing a fun game and interacting with the fans afterward.

I would like to see ND play other pro teams just to see how they can do. I would be preety cool if Cuse or Virginia could play some mll teams just to see how they matchup.

EXACTLY. not even just practicing, but conditioning too. think about it, how much conditioning do you think the pro players do while they are busy with their regular jobs compared to college kids working out every single day at practice. notice how the machine were leading early..then maaybe got tired..

Not very surprising to see ND win. As said above, the Machine arent very conditioned nor have they played together very much since the end of last season. Plus, this game sounds like it was exactly like those pre-seaspn games between NCAA basketball teams and the Harlem Globetrotters. The college team truly cares about the outcome and outworks the Globetrotters while the Globetrotters just mess around and try and do crazy stuff. My old high school coach has been in the MLL for about 4 or 5 years now and he said he used to love playing in these games. For the MLL players, they are fun and recreational and most of the players show up hungover (not making this up, these were his exact words), while for the high school kids this is a chance for them to prove something.
